Got My Airbag Recall Notice today

Drove 1500 miles rt, plus two four hour ferry rides, 3 nights lodging, gas, food etc. to get mine replaced. No charge from the dealer...On the bright side it was a beautiful ride through the Alaskan fall colors and the '08 335i E93 ran like a dream. Submitted my expenses to the settlement...I had put on my Michelin X-Ice 3's just in case but did not need them.

Finally got mine done today. 07 E92 (vin ending PC#####) built 10/06. Car has spent entire life in Northeast (2 years MA, 9 years VT)

Yes. No more scratched/fading steering wheel roundel (which already looked a little beaten when I got the car 2 years old/20K miles).

i dropped mine off last night.

i got a loaner for the day, ill pick it up tonight and see what the status is on the steering wheel cover.

By steering wheel cover if you mean where the BMW roundel is then yes it will be brand new, that is part of the airbag ass. and has to be replaced as one whole unit.

Got mine done last Friday, took about an hour and a half, in and out, which included a a free car wash.

Still nothing, nada, zilch, zero,….recall notice here in the extreme dry, cold, and never ever sunny Florida.
Hurricane Irma must’ve blown all the air bags up to the hot and humid 100+ degree tropical rainy northern states.
Oh well. Still driving my ultimate driving machine.
Will see if it ever comes hopefully before the end of the world.

The mechanic's strike is over here in Chicagoland. I called yesterday to make an appointment to have my 2009 335i done. They said they had plenty of airbags in stock. So I have an appointment tomorrow to have the recall done.

Just got my final letter in Atlanta for my 2011 335i. Looks like we must be getting close to the end of the recall finally.

Holy mother of god, I finally got my notice that parts are ready.

My impression after this is BMW has some serious PR problems. Hopefully that will be corrected when I take the car in for the replacement airbag. Fingers crossed. Will report on the outcome.

I got mine replaced today. Less than an hour from when I pulled into service and leaving with a new airbag and washed car.

Received the final letter on this past tuesday and I called my local dealer right away and they had a few in stock, and I had it replaced today. I asked for a loaner and they gave it to me along with a car wash as well. Glad its finally replaced.

Curious about this..are dealerships required to give you a loaner?

On the recall letter, it says you can request alternate transportation while your car is getting the airbag replaced. They said it'd take about 1.5 hrs to complete, but I needed a car to get to work, so I just asked the service advisor and they said no problem. Give it a try, doesn't hurt to ask.

Finally, 2 years after the first letter, second letter arrived a month ago and my appointment is tomorrow morning to get the airbag changed.

Our BMWs dont get recalled for airbags

Class action lawsuit does not exist here so BMW knows they can get away with it

In NY they tell me it's VIN specific to your car and they have to order the parts specifically for you.....they put the order in 3 weeks ago...jerks
