Charlie Mckenna BMW
I know there is countless mention of Charlie @ Mckenna BMW on here but I couldn't help but start another one. I recently took my E90 to Charlie for the dreaded wastegate rattle / turbo warranty. My experience with Charlie was even greater than all the praise he gets on here. I now know why people drive hundreds of miles to see him. The guy is the real deal. I first PM'd him and mentioned my rattle was pretty unbearable and wanted to see if he could help me out. He got back to me within the hour and was extremely flexible with scheduling and getting me in there ASAP. Agreed on a time and was @Mckenna within a few days.
Arrived for my appointment and went over a few things, without even inspecting my car he worked his magic and told me when she was going to be done. He was even able to get me 12 brand new index injectors! After a few signatures I was in my rental and awaiting anxiously for his call in a few days! 3 days later I get his message stating the car was done and picked her up that day. My car felt brand new and I can't remember it running this well. All said and done I can't thank Charlie enough... He goes above and beyond and without hesitation will do everything in his power to make sure you leave there happy. Be sure to check out his F80 M3 when you go You're the man Charlie! |

Quick question. I recently purchased an 09 E90 and check with BMW NA about existing warranties. It was confirmed that I am still eligeable for the HPFP warranty up to the year 2021 and/or 120k miles so no worries there but the turbos only have until 80k miles or 01/2017 which is just under a year away and the car is just about to break 62k miles.
Can I just roll up to a dealer and say "Hey I'd like my turbos replaced under warranty" or is there a 'proper' way of asking to have this warranty done or do they actually need to be broken in some manner? Keep in mind, there is no known issue with the turbos to me but I cant imagine theyre 100% either. |

Yeah if you're interested in getting your turbos replaced just PM me your VIN, and I'll see if I can't help you out.

I met Charlie last week for injectors and he took care of me. Very nice experience.
Mckenna BMW has some nice M cars for display. Drove from bay area. +1 for Charlie

Does this mean an SES light has to be on? I hear the dreaded rattle and sounds like a deck of cards in between my spokes.
I have 103k miles on my 2008, what are my options? What code would I throw before I attempt to take my car to the dealer? |

Unfortunately at 103k miles you've surpassed the grace period(8yrs/82k miles).
