Tire and Wheel warranty

Hey guys, I know that this topic has been posted on other sections of this forum. And since I live in NJ, I would like to know how much you guys paid for the wheel and tire warranty. My car should arrive by next week to the dealership and I don't want to get ripped off by them.

Thanks again for your help!

Hey Jobu, check out this other thread that I posted on bimmerfest.com. They actually replied over there.

Hope it helps. I'm still waiting for a guy from VPC in Jersey City to reply. I hope the rumor is false.

Nope, spoke to my CA earlier today. He said that he did not hear anything about the VPC being backed up. Hopefully, I will get a better answer from him on Monday. As pottypants noted in the Toledo thread, the Toledo discharged yesterday and left yesterday as well. So, it's one day ahead of schedule. I'm just hoping that my car is at the VPC right now and if there are no damages, I could potentially get my car by Tuesday or Wednesday.

My dealer did not offer it to me, but after I got my first bubble with only 2200 miles I knew I had to do something.

I got my own reimbursement policy from the auto club $28 per year no deductible.

They cover any damages that occur due to road hazzard IE pothole etc. They do not inspect, so basically if anything happens just tell them you hit a pot hole and need a new tire.

They cover you for $350 per tire or $350 per wheel. and up to $1400 per year. Just do a google search for The auto club.

DiFeo is offering the warranty for $699 discounted to $599 for repeat customers. This for the duration of the 3 yr lease, and translates to about $20/month on the lease. I'll probably do it, given all of the feedback I've been getting.

Has anyone ever submitted a claim to theautoclub.com?

Has anyone ever purchased a wheel/tire warranty from a different dealer than the one who sold you the car?

I bought the Wheel and tire package for 600, sounds like a pretty reasonable deal at the moment till I found out that the runflats suck. Now I cant get better all season tires because I dont wanna ruin my warranty. The runflats are freaking garbage!!!!!

I did not pay for a tire warrantee from the dealer. On a 3 year lease, you would need to damage 3 or more tires before it would be a financial advantage.

They sell this insurance because they make money doing it. Sure, a minority of buyers will make out by having the coverage. For the majority however, well they've got your $600 bucks and a promise.

Of course, if you live or drive in NYC, then that is a different story.

I sure hope you don't treat life insurance the same way. It's not like you're required to have that, either...

I have the insurance, although I live in the tri-state area. Being that this is the tristate regional forum (or quad-state), it's probably in your best interest to get this insurance, even at $1k a pop for 3 years.

If you have a 3 mile commute or your roads are perfect (somehow), use your own common sense.

for the record, I've air-bubbled 2 tires already in having my car for only 5 months. That was $450 each TIRE, balancing/taxes and all.

$900 in the first 5 months for $495 insurance/3 years, so you do the math.

As I said it will work out for some. But $450/tire isn't that way above retail?

Of course I have life insurance, home insurance, health insurance, disability insurance, etc. The big things do matter. But tires? Well guess I've been lucky so far and don't blow a tire every year.

Yea, I think at best, it's gonna be $300-$350 a tire. that's getting the tire from tirerack, sending to the installer, taxes, mounting, balancing, tire disposal fee, etc.

with the insurance, i just go to BMW Manhattan and they take care of it. pretty easy.

Its funny you guys mention this. I just took my car in yesterday for a bubble on my tire. I have the Insurance and they said that if i didn't have the insurance i would have to pay $450.

The insurance was one of the best purchases i made. They charged me $600, and in 8 months of owning the car i already got that bubble. So you do the math.

IF YOU LIVE IN NYC or THE TRI STATE AREA,MAKE SURE YOU GET THE TIRE/WHEEL INSURANCE.

I am thinking about the wheel and tire package as well but then I don't have the sports package so it is the standard 16 rims with 16 all seasons run flats. I also plan to put on a set of aftermarket rims and am wondering if it is still worth it. Is there any warranty program that covers any tires/rims that are installed on the car vs only the stock ones?

my question is whether they only cover OEM wheels and tires vs they will cover whatever wheels and tires you have on the car?
