The black ink from the label edges did bleed onto the visor. I applied a little more Goof Off, and with some rubbing, more of the ink came off. However, more solvent was getting absorbed than the amount of ink removed. I then tried Fantastic (I'm thinking laundry stains here, not BMW visor), even Goo Gone, which smells like lemon.

I also have 3M adhesive remover, but for ink, I may even try hairspray (because of the alcohol content). In organic chemistry, we learned that like dissolves like, and I believe that I'm dealing mostly with ink, not adhesive.
So ksfrogman, how does it look?

It actually doesn't look too bad. I'm very perfectionistic, and I want it to be immaculate, but I can still see a slight trace where the ink bled through.

Since I work during the daytime, it's usually too dark to get a good photograph of the visors by the time I get home. I will try to post some pics once I have the chance.

I agree that those stickers don't look terribly bad, but I imagined that in time those stickers might start to deteriorate and look worse on their own. Figured it would be easier to remove them now.

The other issue is that I feel we live in a society where our legal system and litigious environment compel us to label everything we participate in with disclaimers and warnings. A case in point is the Navigation "Accept" screen. I once rented a Ford Taurus that had a bright yellow sticker that said, "Do not place cups or other loose objects in the cup holder while driving as this may present a safety hazard in the event of an accident." Soon all toilet manufacturers will be required to display, "make sure you wipe the floor after you urinate as wet floors may present a safety hazard to others." This is silly, because I never miss.

i used the goof off method on my dad's e39 when he first got it in '01.

to protect other parts of the visor, take some masking tape and make a border around the sticker. take goof off, and apply it onto a cotton ball. take the cotton ball and dab the sticker all over. you should start to see the sticker wrinkling. at this point, start at a corner, and slowly start peeling the sticker off. there might be some adhesive left over, and i'd use something less powerful to clean that up like goo gone.

on my dad's e39, it left a slight shadow.

i have yet to do this on the e90.

also, i would only do this if you have vinyl visors.

? - is there a non-USA visor that we can order w/o the warning if we're willing to spend the bucks? just wondering if there is a part number or something? their passenger side view mirrors don't have our stupid "objects in the mirror" warning...wondering if they have some nice clean visors to order???

euro mirrors are two-planed. there's a concave part and a convex part split by a little line. there's a pic of them somewhere. American mirrors are flat, hence the visual defect of "Objects are larger...."
I can't stand euro mirrors...they look like bifocals

Had those bi-focal/autobahn mirrors ordered for my 2003 E39 and loved them. I was going to order for the E91 but seeing as though the mirrors are auto-dim - the cost is prohibitive. You're right - they are like bi-focals and take some getting used to but they do help with blind spots - at least for me.

Damnit, I hadn't even noticed those labels until I read this thread. I had completely blocked them out. I was living in happy no label bliss. Now I know they are there, and I bet they will start irritating me.

I was the same way, then I saw this thread, thought about doing it, and never did. In the end, I never notice it.

i took them off my e46 M3 and X5. they both have the black fabric material visors. i used a heat gun/blow dryer and my fingernail.

it takes some time (comes off in small pieces) but worth it in the long run imo.

Salvation has come!
After trying to scrub the sticker with my nails for almost a day, I found this thread and tride Goof Off.
It worked like a charm on my beige cloth visor in 330i. I was able to remove the remnants of both stickers in under 5 min.
tima's procedure is exactly what you need to do. I did not have any bleeding of black paint into the visor material.
I dabbed an old sock wet with Goof Off all over the sticker and then started to brush from the edge towards the rest of the label. It peeled nicely with no sticky residue left behind. Wow!

Help! I fear my visor is trashed. I used goo off following these methods and my visor is a mess, the black border didn't really come off in a few spots, the is black dye leaked through staining the visor, the visor is saggy, and there is still sticky stuff...

Any way to remove the black ink? Anyone have a part number for the vinyl visor and where to get it(mine is gray)? I've tried goo gone but that didn't help, I think I just need to toss it altogether and get a new visor, I'm usually pretty competent but this job just sucked.

I did the 02 x5 with straight goo gone and it came off perfectly, no shadow nothing, but my e90 looks like trash!

Edit: Apparently the black on the visor was not actually leaked dye but black sticky stuff left behind by the sticker, so the next day I was able to apply plenty of goof off and remove most of the black crud. The area still looks pretty shady but much better than before, I will let it dry tonight and evaluate it in the morning. Hopefully goo gone should take off what is left over.

I just took them off in my M3. The small pieces were a pain in the ass but I like it better with them removed.

So should I not use the adhesive remover on the fabric?

i did this, worked well, i have the grey cloth visors

one thing to you guys who had ink bleed through to the visor, you must have just slathered that crap on there and left it for an hour...

i started at a corner, then once i got an idea of how it would go i dabbed it all along the outside edge, pulled back what got released, then dabbed more on the new edge

also the red dots on the visor wouldnt come off, everything else peeled away but those little buggers are welded on there, couldnt get them off, but they are tiny and un noticable

i did get a little (super little) discoloration right around the outside of where the sticker was, but you can only see it under flourescent lighting and only if your really looking for it at a certain angle (i seriously meant little) doubt anyone would be able tos ee it even if they tried in the car

Removed my visors today on leatherette sun visors (no premium package) using goof-off. The sticker came off cleanly, the more goof off you use the easier they come off. My sunvisors got sappy after i took them off cuz I used too much goof off. But they were fine the next day thank god. There are two brighter rectangles on my visors now I hope they'll fade soon!
