Best place to get serviced in chicago??
I was thinking of going to Motorwerks in barrington. I am looking for a place that is more tuner friendly. Does anybody have any suggestions??

i think that is your best bet too.
Laurel (Westmont) was my dealership and seemed cool about having mods but i wasn't too impressed with them otherwise so I'd just stick with Motorwerkes. |

Barringron SUCKS. Patrick BMW is great! They dont care for aftermarket parts. Just as long as nothing broke because of your mods your fine.

I went to Patrick once the last winter, their SA's ignored me for 25 min before I had to butt into a conversation and ask for help from one of them... he showed me a few CPO'd E46's (but nothing caught my eye) and then when I expressed interest in the new E90's he asked me what specifically I was looking for, wrote it down on his notepad, took my phone number and told me he'd have a quote for me in 48 hrs, didn't even want to look at my trade in either.
I never heard from him. I thought that was pretty fuckin bogus... especially since I told him I had come there all the way from Madison and was ready to purchase. Last edited by UdubBadger; 09-14-2008 at 12:06 PM.. |

Have you ever snuck into their service bays? Whn my brother had a tuned X5, he would hit up Patrick all of the time and check out the race-prepped M3s (E46). I have been waiting to get a Dinan chip until I return to Chicago this winter.

Agree on Patrick for Service
If anyone is still looking, I definitely recommend Patrick for service, although I've not had a great experience with their sales. In fact, we just bought a 2008 335xi in Cincinnati, because we had such a good experience with the sales person there, versus not so great sales experience in Patrick. For service, though, they've been very good. I recommend Aaron M. or Chris S. in service (I've done a couple of HPDEs with Aaron).

Go to Knauz for service - I had a great experience
I had been having problems with the fuel pump but the dealer in Milwaukee (Concours) wouldn't do it because the dummy light had not come on yet. They then proceeded to loose my keys and forgot to call me to let me know for three days.
Went to Knauz for oil service and let SA know that I had been having problems and thought it was fuel pump. He checked and let me know that a recall had been done on pump and has been active since Feb 08 - I had my car in at the Milwaukee dealership in June and been told that they wouldn't do the fuel pump because BMWNA wouldn't approve the repair without the dummy light on. SA at Knauz said that was crazy and had no problem getting my car the new fuel pump. Knauz is a big dealership but really treats you like its a small place. Go to Knauz - you won't have a problem. SA's are all on top of their game! |

So I was looking around for some mod friendly SA's at various dealers and went to Laurel BMW in Westmont. Andre is an SA there whom I've met at a couple of ///M meets and was a great guy to work with. I went in for a simple microfilter change. I got that, plus some new wipers, and they also washed and vacuumed my car!

I work at Motorwerks, and I know he is kind of new to BMW, but Elliot is mod friendly(due to his days as an MB advisor dealing with my MB clientel). He dealt very well with my very heavily modded AMG friends. Tell him Nick sent you and he will understand completely.
