Track Day 4th may

Just a thought, I've booked myself on an MSV open pit lane track day at Bedfore Autodrome SEN circuit (safest track in the UK) on Saturday 4th May.

Its £169 for the whole day.

If anyone fancies making it a E90post affair that would be cool.

If not, I'll be there on my tod.

Taking the GoPro to get some footage..

Definitely interested. I had a blast last time I went to Bedford Autodrome.

Is it the full circuit?

Yep its the SEN (south, east and north) tracks together. v long.

Not the shorter west circuit that evo use.

I had a voucher for my 40th last year which expires end of may, so i went for this one hoping for good weather...

I'm on a stag do as well - not in Magaluf by any chance Phil?

If we get 2 then we could steal the thread and have an E90 meet over there!

Tempting. May have to get the e30 track car ready. Last time I was there I had 80 laps and three tanks of petrol of fun.

Also tempted especially as its a weekend. How well are MSV open pit lane days run? It'd be my first car track day (plenty on bikes), stupid idea?

Very very tempting. I have previously been advised to start with a novice day. So would it be a bad idea to go to this one? Any group discount available?

Awesome day out, new cluch was fine, slightly thrashed tyres and managed a few lairy 2nd gear powerslides.

335rocks (lars) turned up for a nosey too.

There's no need for some of you to worry about being a novice, a guy was there in a bog standard Corsa 1.3 and was having a ball.

So from a Corsa 1.3 to a Mclaren MP4-12C and everything in between.

We should organise a forum trackday, no excuses

Definitely. I was just talking to the OH about this earlier. She wants to know why I spend time and money making my car handle better and go faster when I won't do it on the roads.

I'd love to do a trackday but I'm wary of ending up on a short session full of barryboys who can't drive. I'll have enough to think about myself without having to dodge others!

If someone organises one, I'll be in.

You really don't have to worry about that. Without exception, the other guys are serious petrolheads in pride and joys or other costly hardware who really don't want to crash either.

The marshalls / trackday organisers won't have any funny business either, you'll be black flagged if you're a risk to to others.

Overtaking is only allowed on straights when the slower driver has moved over / indicated.

No overtaking on braking zones or corners. No getting too close.

In a regular road car you will be the one being passed more often, but its not that busy. It means you back off on the straights a bit sometimes to let the faster cars past, no bad thing for your brakes.

If we're going to get a crowd it really needs to be a fairly central track like Bedford or Donnington, and both these track are great for beginners and the nervous with bags of run off.

Guys - If your interested I can put on an evening open pit lane session, 2.5 hours exclusively for E90 members at Snetterton if interested?! Its a fun track, there is lots of run off, obviously its not as open as Bedford but its great fun.

That way you are with likeminded drivers, similar cars, and should all know each other roughly! Can provide tuition with ARDS instructors too for those that want it.

If anyones interested let me know. I know its a bit far for some people but it would be worth it, obviously I work for MSV so if anyone has any general questions etc Id be happy to help.

VERY interested! Particularly in the tuition - I had a taster with an instructor in an Exige at Silverstone a few years back and I'd love to do the same in my own car. Not entirely sure where Snetterton is, but I'll willingly travel

Nice track, but Snetterton might as well be in Belgium, it's takes that long to get there.

It's on the far side of the universe - Norfolk!

100 miles of M6 to Bedford was bad enough when you need to be there for 8am, but 180 miles of Norfolk hell roads... not for me.

Good that we have an MSV insider on here though

Hope so, be good to get a load of people together on track, especially when I 100% share the same passion.

Glad to hear it, I'd love to get something concrete!

Even if this idea doesn't take off, If you want to do something let me know. Decent Instruction I think is always the best performance enhancer any track driver can have. You can have 500bhp and all the toys but if you can't take a corner properly whats the point!

Thanks

I fully understand, its a long way for some, and wherever suggested will always exclude someone which is a shame!! Norfolk roads aren't that terrible, once the duelling of the A11 between Mildenhall and Thetford is complete it will transform that hellish run for everyone!!
