Finally put the Euro headlight switch in.

Got a Euro headlight switch from a member on here, and put it in.

I figured it would be nice to have when we are out in the snow, or in foggy conditions.

Put the switch in and turned them on in the driveway, then just went for a short drive at night with no one around so I didn't blind them.

Pretty happy with it!

Don't see too many photos of the rear fogs on in photos either.

This is also with tinted tail lights, Note, they aren't that dark…

So rear fogs arent stock on US bimmers? Wow.. I use them alot in fog and blizzard conditions.

Top tip!
If your reversing in totally black/dark conditions, turn them on! They help by illuminating the surrounding area wider then the small reverse lights.

Bulbs are already in place, but there is no switch on US cars. So w/ the Euro switch it's plug and play.

I installed the switch and use it on occasion, comes in handy. I have an aftermarket backup camera so the rear fog helps in really dark areas where the camera doesn't pick up too well.

The rear fogs can be enabled with the US switch. Even though the button doesn't have the logo, you can make the button functional. Search for Lego Mod.

Yup, here in the US the rear fog is now the emergency brake light. However speaking of which out of curiosity, what do Euro cars do when the rear fogs are on and they're braking in an emergency?

Thanks guys.

The emergency brake light is disabled when the rear fogs are on.

Yeah the euro and us spec cars have strange differences lol

I can only offer an opinion about my car.. LCI produced in June 2009.
The Rear fog is turned on with the switch as shown by the OP. The rear fogs DONT come on during emergency braking like they do in the US, where the normal brakelights come on first, then the "rear fogs" in emergency braking situations.

Regardless of the rear fogs being on or not, the warning flashers will come on if the ABS is active for more then 3-4 seconds (IE: Emergency braking with ABS pumping). I´ve gotten my flashers to turn on a couple of times in snow/ice conditions... But that is a country by country adaptation. Some countries dont allow the warning flashers to turn on automatically unless atleast one airbag has deployed. So whats true here in Sweden may not be true in the UK for example.

Once useful purpose I have found is to get someone tailgating you off your butt. Kick those lights on and they back right off.

Rear Fog Switch Mod

Was considering purchasing the Euro switch. Glad I searched the forum and found the switch mod! Simple 15 min no-cost mod. Get lots of fog and heavy rain here at the coast. Thank you again E90POST

Installed the Euro switch long ago and haven't use it yet but this is a good idea. Don't get many people who get close enough to tailgate me but will remember this in case it ever happens Thanks!
