Got it!

Finally picked up my car last night. The weather was miserable so it was sat in the window of the dealership.

2 things spring to mind:

i) It is awesome. Wa-wa-wee-wah as Borat might say
ii) Was a bit dissapointed with the dealer prep:

a) Swirl marks in a lot of places on it (all their cars had on closer inspection)
b) Blacklines allegedly on "back order" (although they've had weeks to get them)

To be honest with (ii)a I think having spent time on detailingworld I've become a bit anal in that regard and they've offered to re-valet it.

The Logic 7 / Professional speaker thing is amazing. Maybe I have a crap hifi at home but it is the best sound I've hard. I have hardly put my foot on the accelerator and it looks and feels like a rocket (or a wheelbarrow with those two separate exhausts !).

I absolutely love it.... the steering wheel is worth about 90% of the cost to me as it just feels amazing.

OK, will post more random observations and gratuitious excitement later...or not if it will bore you

Fantastic ... well worth the wait I'm sure. I agree on the msport wheel as well, it's brilliant, get's even better when you start cornering hard and holding it tight at 1/4 to 3 race car style.

Did other people have any swirl marks on the car at collection? I expected it to be spotless but I'm thinking perhaps that was unrealistic on a black car....

RE: Hifi, I've got a reasonably good B&W surround speaker setup with a REL sub and a reasonable Pioneer amp but it isn't so intense as having it surround you so intenseley like it does in the car.

RE: Steering wheel and paddles it is standard on 335d ? I wasn't sure how I'd get on with the automatic but I just love keeping hold of that steering wheel.

I've offered to do a pointless journey with my brother tonight to get some more experience with it. It is looking dirty already due to the weather

Loving Xenons so far. Folding mirrors were a great purchase as I can only just get it into my garage and so they help quite a bit. Front PDC is proving quite useful while I get used to the dimensions of the car. Took it in a multi story this morning where i've previously caught my ACS wheels on old car so was a bit tentative !

OK pics will come as soon as I clean it up again!

NathanJT> You were right about asking the dealer not to clean it - I wish I'd done that now.....

Yes and I've decided what bugs me most about the rear and lack of blacklines .... some angles with that red light on the corner it reminds me of a Rover 75 which does my head in Got to get the blacklines on.....

Back order my a*** - on PDI I reckon they checked the order and thought "oh sh1t we forgot to order them" !!!!

Next question: what do you guys do about keys?

How pointless is having a key in the dash on the "wrong side" that isn't even a key really. If I stick my bunch of house keys, work keys etc. on the same "bunch" they'll be battering on the dash. So currently I have the garage remote (separate) and two bunches of keys with keyfobs in one pocket.

I'm sure there's a common sense (sorry NFS) solution - what do you guys do!

Can't help there ... I have CA. Barely know what the key looks like, never take it out my pocket.

Well, only when I wash my breeks

The blacklines do make a big difference on Sapphire Black - although it took me months to do mine.

I only have my car key fob and a front door key ... so I don't have much of a problem.

Is that common sense

BTW - cool trick ... lock the car with the dashboard button while you are in the drivers seat and the key fob is in your pocket.

Then slowly bring the fob close to the slot, but don't insert it and the doors will unlock

Looking good

Mine is still two months away, but my blacklines are sitting in my garage waiting. I got them from a German BMW dealer on ebay - a lot cheaper than from a UK dealer, and they came through in 5 days as well

Hey nice motor...congrats.

My wife's Jet Black e92 does not have any swirl lines...and I was expecting some, only a couple of minor marks which I have polished out. Ive just put in an order to polished bliss for some FMJ and QD etc to protect it.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the 3er but what are "blacklines"?

Happy motoring

The rear lights in the pics above, instead of having an orange indicator lens, they are a clearish/black colour

Congratulations!

Glad the car is great.

I'm getting mine tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited too but still think I'm gonna miss my convertible too much. Hope not. I see you did a similar thing - convertible to hard top.

I agree re the steering wheel - my car is SE 'cos I was happy with the standard kit as it has sports seats and suspension anyway but the steering wheel bugged me so I've ordered one of the new M3 one's on eBay.

Enjoy the car!
