JB4 fitted..... What next?

I've had a JB4 fitted for about 5 months now and I'm thinking of adding some more power to the N54. Childish I know, but a friend of mine has just bought a Jamsport tuned 400bhp focus RS and I don't want to be left behind eating dust

My car is standard other than the JB4 so what performance part should I add next and what gains should I expect? I'm not fussed about fitting a diff or ARB's yet, just performance mods.
I'm thinking catless DP's or FMIC. Are there any cheaper alternatives to the AR design DP's which are still good quality? What's the deal with meth? Is that similar to nitrous? Am I better off sticking with bolt on parts?

Budget for now is £1000 but that includes labour. Darren Wood has quoted me £240 Gordon fitting downpipes.

Is meth ok to fit to a more or less standard car other than a JB4 or would I need cooling mods?

Water:Meth is a chemical intercooler lowering IATs whilst upping octane.. Win. Win.

Fine for a stock car.

Downpipes next for big gains!!

Ah hah, another victim of n54-itus.

Phil's right, pound for pound meth will give the biggest bang. See n54 forums, over 100hp on a standard car.

It is a win win, more bolt ons will add to it, but its the rule of diminishing returns. The biggest meth hit will be from standard.

I would look for used FMIC and downpipes and see if you can get both for under £1000. Then save as quick as possible for the fitting of both at the same time.

With the JB4 this would be safer and more practicle than meth right? Adding power, reducing lag, not having to refill etc. Then in a couple of months when it feels slow again chuck the meth in!

Also think about diverter valves, catch can, clutch, light flywheel, hoses, intake etc.

But you didn't throw meth into the question...

Between DPs and FMIC i'd agreed FMIC. (ETS one is a cracker)

I've done it both ways and and the FMIC on its own did give much more pull from low revs, DPs really shine at high revs.

But if the question is 'which gives most power' including meth then its meth 1st.

With it coming into winter do you think the FMIC would have more benefit or less than in the summer? Also I would imagine that meth has less effect in colder air but not sure of the science behind that.

Anybody know?

Not really a mod...but map 5 with e85 mix makes a very noticeable difference in power for me.

We don't have e85 in the UK.
