New to me 335i - love it!!

Greetings, all. I am psyched to be part of the club, having just purchased my first BMW.

2010 335i, 17k miles, Alpine White/Saddle

Loaded with everything except nav and active cruise control.

I am blown away by how this car drives, particularly with the Active Steering. It rides on rails.

Previous car was an '05 Infiniti G-35. Those that claim that the G is a reasonable facsimile of a 3-series don't know what they are talking about.

And also having owned a Lexus LS 430, I can say that the Logic7 (Harman Kardon, I believe) puts the Mark Levison to SHAME.

Car is stock but I'm planning some upgrades based on what I see on this forum.

Thanks for looking!

Congrats and welcome. I switched to a 335i from an 04 G35 as well. The G was fun but nothing compared to the 335i.

Nice ride. You're going to love it coming from Infiniti. The G's are fun and reliable, but can't hold a candle to turbo power.

That N54 motor is going to become a cult favorite in automotive history... you got an awesome build with the 2010's being the last year of production!

I grin from ear to ear while driving it. Actually I laugh out loud.. giggle like a girl, the works. It is awesome.

While looking, I did a VIN run on it and found it was totally loaded while the non-BMW dealership that was selling it had no idea what it was. They just pulled info from carfax and it said it had parking sensors - that was the only option listed!

Mine was an 05 sedan and it was fine, but the dealer offered me a ridiculous amount to trade it in and I couldn't say no. Especially since it needed a ton of work. The Bose system seemed ok, but now I really understand...

Mine got flooded. lol. I don't know, I'm a big fan of Bose but I thought it sounded like garbage in our cars. The logic 7 sounds AWESOME!! Enjoy the car man. I hear theres a crazy epidemic called the "Mod Bug" for 335i drivers. Beware!! lol

Congrats, nice ride. I went from a 2005 G35 coupe, to a 2006 e90 330i, to my current 2009 e90 335i. G was nice, but it definitely falls short of the BMW, except for reliability of course. Start with a Cobb or JB4 for sure, best bang for your buck, period.

Thanks! I appreciate all other suggestions on mods. Performance wise, I am pretty darn satisfied with the car. I liked the thread on the Euro rear fog-lights but the car seems nearly perfect as is so not doing anything crazy.

Will be curious to see how the fuel pump goes. The recall and reprogramming was done at 8k miles and it has a pretty clean service record.

Oh, one question. I saw different opinions about the effectiveness of the shark fin antenna. I don't have a cradle but just the Y plug with USB for my iPhone 4. The car is supposedly set up for iPhone but does anyone know if the inductive connection for the antenna actually works or does any good?

Active steering, nice but rare option that I had on my 2007 335i convertible. Just be aware 3rd party shops can't do the alignments on BMW's equipped with AS, and BMW typically charges around $250 for an Active Steering alignment from my personal experience. Enjoy the car man!

The last year of production for the N54 was 2010 after that only the 335IS, 1M, Z4is had them after 2011+

The only reason the N54 is nicer than the N55 is because, the N54 had forged internal parts in the motor. It can make more power with the same bolt on's (Compared to the N55).

Don't get me wrong... the N55 is a great motor and car. I think the N55 will get more love once someone can do something more with it.

Thanks for your comments, everybody. Enough people have mentioned the JB4 that I will be looking into it. Also I can't figure out why some people don't like the cup holders. I plan to be driving this car, not getting my Big Gulp on.

Anyway, I'll see y'all on the motorway. If anyone makes the drive to Pebble Beach, PM me and I'll get you in the gate for free. 17 Mile Drive should be on everyone's bucket list and the Concours in August is unbelievable.
