I've driven many many Vettes. Truthfully, I think it would be a close race. I have a V3 and it pulls pretty good. I actually drove a factory C6 last Saturday (I work for GM) and it nearly doesn't feel as strong as my V3. You might be able to edge him out but probably not leave him in the dust. Just make sure it isn't a ZR1. Those are monsters!

How about a 1992 vette, 6 speed with just aftermarket mufflers against a 335i coupe, 6 speed running on map 3 (JB3) and a helene drop in filter?

I say the 335 would have no problem with this vette, but I have a coworker talking smack. He thinks his 1992 vette is a drag racing-type car!

ps It is not a ZR1

Here's a vid of me getting destroyed by an LS3 vette. This run was on the way to the track where I ran 12.3 @ 116.16 on 104 octane. We hit it in 3rd gear - both cars are MT - and I held him off until we hit 4th, where I must have fallen off boost on the shift. It looks like I dropped anchor at that point and letting off at the very end just made it look worse. No excuses from my end - he would have crushed me from 4th gear on even if I did maintain full boost on the upshift. He is not quite stock with a vararam, ported TB, street tune, but did have one passenger to my none.

My guess is that you'll hang decently until higher speeds and then get crushed.

Enjoy.......

I am unsure of the driving capabilities here, but in the vette forums with a car out of the showroom people are claiming 11.7's - 12.2's with the LS3. I have a friend with an LS3 and it just pulls so hard, I have a hard time imagining you pulling this one out as long as driving capabilities are similar.
Now the thought on the 92 Vette, the 92 was the first year for the LT1 this car had 20% more hp than the previous year of the L98 bringing it up to 300hp. The problem with the car is that it still sucked! I have driven many and sold even more when I was a salesman. Your buddy with the 92 doesnt stand a chance. I owned quite a few with my moderately modded 350z.

Nice Z I had the exact same wheels on mine:

ok back on topic!

(P.S. I wouldn't worry too terribly much with the mods listed vs. anything stock lower than an LS3)

+1.

I outran a LT1 vette (convert auto) in my GS400.

Most LT1s are almost trash by now.

Did you see this

2008 Corvette LS3 - Intake, Cam, Headers, Z06 Exhaust vs 2008 Corvette Z06 - Intake, Ported Throttle Body, Ported Intake Manifold, Headers, and Exhaust from a 30ish roll. (Camera Car is the 2008 Corvette LS3.)

This is one of the few truthful responses in this thread.

Everything else is just dreams and fantasy.

I have headers and an aftermarket exhaust. I'd tool a tuned 335i.

Good video, the LS3 is a lot of room to "spare" out of the factory. No tuned 335i is going to hang with a tuned LS3.

Tell me this is you talking in your sleep. Or that I missunderstood.

Mr. Foci, you need to head back to the OT forum.

Hadn't seen that. THinking about doing the LS3 heads on my LS2 and forging the shortblock while I have the heads off.... We shall see. The problem is I will inevitably turn the boost up, and will then require a transmission, driveshaft, and rearend

You said its an ls2? if thats the case it is possible to pull on him with your mods, i put a few car lengths on one a while back from a 40 roll with your mods plus dp's and intercooler, however the ls2 i ran wasn't stock, it had an intake and exhaust. so idk what this stuff about you certain to get raped BENCH RACING=. Now if it was an ls3, go home LOL

My brother had an 08 LS3 with the usual bolt-ons and a decent cam. Made 490 whp, and trapped 126 mph and was his DD. Amazingly easy to drive. The thing was like a huge S2000. The power felt like stock until around 4k where it would swell and was a rocketship to the 7k limiter. Made peak power at redline. Nasty car. He actually just got rear-ended by a paint truck and the car was totaled. He's going to grab a used C6 Z. So am I
