Triple Turn Signal Ticket?
Has anyone here ever received a ticket from the Triple Turn Signal?
Meaning that you used it, but the cop didn't see it so they gave you a ticket for failure to signal. I have a co-worker with the same car as mine and they're fighting the ticket today. We've printed out the page from the manual explaining this feature, but any further help would be well appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cops in FL seem so nice now I doubt they'd ever give a ticket out for something like that here, happens all the time even in front of cop cars.
Let us know how it goes!

it isn't a law to use your signal in florida.
yeah the police here are so lax. in connecticut i got a ticket for "cutting off a cop"--he was doing twice the speed limit in the rain coming around a blind corner and i hardly "cut him off" he just had to slow down a little!

Just to be clear, the triple signal is only for lane changing. You'd need to use the full signal for turns, merging etc.
Did you use the triple-sig for turns or....? I am thinking that's why the cop gave you a ticket. Either that or he had a quota to fill that day

It was only a lane change. And... it wasn't me, it was a co-worker with a E90 325i.

He claimed he had to lock up his brakes to avoid rearending me...B$! I pleaded not guilty and went to court on the 2nd trial date (always delay one trial at least) , the cop didn't remember or notice me. He turned over the ticket, read a small note written on the back and said to me "you cut me off" I said I clearly saw you doing twice the speed limit in a dark rainy night! Then he tried to reduce it down to a no seatbelt fine...I said why should I accept this if I didn't do anything wrong in this case. (I had notes with details down to the time, cop's comments said, etc) He tried to work around it but i resisted and said either we go to trial in the courtroom or you drop this. He favored the latter and I went home 20 mins later without paying a penny... Come to think of this idiot, he didn't notice I had a expired inspection sticker that expired 2 months ago...

In California, it is not law (though I wish it were) that you use your turn signals. You are supposed to use them when your turn may influence a nearby driver. Unfortunately, it has become the norm to not use turn signals even when cutting people off without advanced warning. This is what the CHP should be writing tickets for, not missing license plates or window tint. |
