iPhone 4 USB not supported on iDrive ver. 9231090...? Help!

I just purchased a used 2011 335is with a production date in 2010. To my surprise I can't use the USB port with my iPhone 4, it says "Not Supported" when I plug it in.

When I pair it with BlueTooth it can make calls but I don't see any audio tracks or playlists.

Apparently, this version of the iDrive (9231090) does not support iPhone 4.

Does anyone know if there is an update or an option for me to fully integrate with my iPhone 4?

Thanks,
Keith B

Try another iPhone 4 or/and another cable... I saw something like this last weekend and the issue was the particular iPhone 4 of a customer.

Yup, I had an issue with my phone 4 not being recognized, it turns out it was the after market cable.

Please follow my suggestion I sent you by email.
Use the BMW Y cable since this is the only approved cable for connecting your iPhone with the car when the car is not equipped with the Combox.

Also there is no Bluetooth Audio available in your car.

Time to think about the Combox retrofit

Will any of the Snap In Adapters (BMW Apple iPhone 4 Snap-In Adapter) work in leu of the Y-cable?

Same issue...

I've got the same issue and I'm a complete newb to BMW.

What's a combo box and how is it better than the y cable?

Thanks!

Iphone yCable problems

I have a 2007 335i and just got an iphone4. I connect with a y-cable (BMW cable but not orig). The iPhone works sweet for about 3 songs than just stops play...flips to FM radio. I un-plu and reconnect with same results. Is it the cable???
