I'm actually debating going out for a day with just catless downpipes on.

My cars been bone stock since I got the wastegate recall done, and when I put my dp's back on I just might.

I'll work on an exhaust clip

That is a good idea about replacing the stock cats with race cats. I think muffler delete would be a ton of drone lol

Wouldn't changing the mufflers to something other than magnaflows work too?

Yea try to get us an exhaust clip of how it sounds now, I’ve never heard magnaflow on an N54 so I’m not sure how loud it is. I’d agree a full muffler delete will probably cause too much drone, Berk race is just crazy drony IMO. You could try out other “race” setups that still retain a muffler like Eisenmann, GThaus, etc etc. Personally the best setup for my ears is catless downpipes+resonated catless mids+ race muffler. It’s a bit boomy, but that’s just the nature of turbo cars, they’ll always have that super deep bass tone.

Exhaust sound is depending on your wastegate position. Since I have DP's I drove with wastegate position on 30% (procede). With stock exhaust this has a massive change of sound and loudness.

I now changed to 45% because of lag and some crappy exhaust noise coming with catless. With the same setup the car sounds completely different. Maybe to conservative for my taste.. no need to activate the exhaust flap on highway.

I would put back the stock mufflers and replace the secondaries with vibrant resonators.
Sounds great, not sure how the maganaflow would sound, but magnaflow has a reputation of droning.

You guys really need to differentiate between the e90 and everything else. The e90 PE retains cats.

I'll post a sound clip today but my e90 PE and catless DPs is not too loud at all, it's wonderful.

Hey OP, I saw you on ob.c but I'm too lazy to hunt you down there. I just cut my secondary cats so now I've got ar design catless dp's and no secondary cats.

The sound is certainly raspier but it's not overly loud. Still quiet for a 400whp car in my eyes... If you want a sound clip or something message me your number and I'll try to send you something sometime. Or maybe our paths will cross this summer at events.

Hmm so would removing the secondaries for hi-flow Cats give it more sounds w/o creating a lot of rasp?

What do you think, this is a tiburon....lol

I have catless DP's on mine with the secondaries removed and the stock exhaust. No rasp on my auto and the sound is awesome when I get on it. At idle the car sounds stock. You definitely notice a difference on cold starts though, much louder. I'm surprised the magnaflows aren't loud enough for you. You can always go with one of the HPF exhausts as they are basically expensive straight pipes.

Exactly haha the reason I don't want rasp. The magnaflows are crazy quiet, might as well ne stock lol it's noticeably louder on a cold start but that's about it. Like I stated in the OP, I'm not blowing serious money for a stupid exhaust system lol The next thing I blow money on will be a FMIC or oil cooler, not a silly expensive exhaust system.

No need to put an exhaust on these cars, there's no HP gain. Though I would live an Akrapovic or eisenmann exhaust I just can't justify spending the cash on one.

Between my protuned Cobb, VRSF IC & DP's, and MR.5 intake I picked up 105whp and 130wtq for under $1500. Yes I did before and after dyno's on the same dyno. Great bang for the buck.
