Hi all brothers

Newbie here :-)

I will be test driving a 335i this weekend but would like to get some advice and tips on negotiating for a new car. Am I better off just go and find a broker?

I have been dreaming for a BMW for the past 10 years and have been driving my little lancer for the last 7 years.

I am really nervous as I have never driven something this powerful and expensive. But my dream is coming close to reality!!!

Any advice? I am still deciding between a E92 and E93 335i.

Hi and Welcome !!!!

Discounts and BMW don't normally go together, particularly with the 335i, you can shop around as much as you can with the limited number of dealerships, but don't expect to get much off!

Totally agree with AndDee re: BMW purchases in Oz and discounts. You should however be able to haggle at least for a few after market goodies from your chosen $tealership.

And yes, been there done that with the decision process. It is as you say, a fairly big decision for most of us, but still a very exciting time at the very least.
I jumped very deep into the pool a few months ago and decided (like you) that now is the time to endulge in a car a little out of the ordinary. Let me say the last few months of driving my baby have been more than worth the price, the wait, and the initial indecision. The E93 335 is simply a magnificant car, and the pleasure of driving it will most likely never dull.
Don't worry about the power step up from what you're used to - the ease at which these cars manage themselves will ensure you get comfy with that in no time.
Go for the 335 twin turbo - they are simply an absolute blast every time you drive it. Absoluely no regrets.
Live your life and dreams - nobody else can.

Between e92 and e93

its all about convertible or not, if you dont like open air car, just buy e92 and save around $13k.

This is what i think between e92 and e93, imagine if you drive each car around crowd people with e93 roof down, most people will look at you ( ppl say WOWWW Nice car )

Discounds, be sure to ask for EPP (Executive Preference Plan).
Also demand 10% off asking price, you should be able to land a brand new 335i for easily 120k drive away if your a nimble negotiator.

MOst dealer will ask this question:
Can you make decisions today? if you are very serious with the car, set your budget first. Let say if you happy with $120k ( u might get 335i e92 , but not with 335i e93 ) tell the dealerguy, i take it with 120k , and i can put deposit right now. if they dont want it, i suggest get out asap from their, and shop around ( from here, at least you know the basic price ) perhaps next bmw dealer you can do the samething or increase your budget view grand IMO

Something to consider is that the E93 is a little over 200kg heavier too, at 1,735kg it is a heavy car...

There is ALWAYS room to move. I got a custom order M-Sport 335 for significantly less than retail - with goodies thrown in on top for free.

Prepare, prepare, prepare!

Speak to as many dealers as you can and get to know the names of some sales execs. Quote their names to the other dealerships sales execs and tell them you don't care where you get the car but you are prepared to travel for the deal. Sals reps are less comfortable if they know you are shopping around and you mean it.

Ask for written quotes off all of them and then base your strategy around these. It is unlikely they will generate very attractive quotes on paper but sometimes they do. Then take these more attractive quotes and use them against other dealers quotes - dirty I know but this is your cash.

ALWAYS set up appointments to formalise proceedings. This avoids the "prepared to buy today" bullshit. Tell them right up front your timeframe for making a decision.

I could go on and on........but the bottom line is be confident and prepared with your ideal price (that is realistic) - and be happy to walk away if they do not come close, but be happy to accept a deal if they do!

I managed to get 5 grand off my car but that was after intense negotiating.

If you want to get a great deal call Alto Audi and ask for there BMW wholesale section. YES WHOLESALE!! They have a few 335's left on the lot and are wholesaling them off. I was looking at replacing the X3 i have with a 4.8L X5 and it was priced at 110k drive away compared to the same spec at another dealer priced at 138k.

So ring Alto Group tomorrow and make sure you secure a deal if the 335 on the lot has the right specs for you. They are going to wholesale them off to BMW Syndey in a few days.

You can flat bed the car to Brissy from Sydney, at least you know you will be buying a brand new 335 at wholesale price

As for e92 vs e93, although I am a convertible person, I would still pick the e92 over the vert IMO looks cleaner, and a tight little package lol

HAHA the M-Sprorts 335 has no sunroof, the only down to earth salesmen in ALTO said its near impossible to sell

The M5 and M3 are going to sell for decent prices though

Really, that's funny, i noticed it was 2k cheaper than the one with the 18"s.
They have cut the prices by a bit too, that e93 325i has dropped by nearly 10k, to 96k, from 105k.
The m5 is cheap as, but it is an 06 model....

I was there a few days ago and the M-sports with 18 inch rims with sunny was not there. I did have a chat with salesmen there and he said most of the high costing BMW's will be wholesaled to BMW Sydney.

If you only wish to be a straight line hero, of course, but you cannot hide 210kg out in the twisties, that is a LOT of weight, equivalent to me filling my car up with people, which makes a BIG difference.
