just ordered E92 330 diesel

Hi total newbe here from England

I have just placed a deposit on a E92 coupe 330 Diesel. I have been told I can expect delivery in the 1st week of October....but only if I pick the spec by this coming Thursday.

I was going to get the 335 bi-turbo but with petrol at £4.5 (8 dollars) a Uk gallon I thought the diesel was sensible. 29.3mpg vs 43 mpg.

I do 90 miles a day on my round trip to work; and only 6 miles of that is dual lane.

I am thinking the following spec
Either black sapphire/coral red dakota (most likely)
or
Montego blue/black dakota

Adaptive headlamps to go with the std Xenons (for that country lane drive home)
heated seats
Sports seats but not suspension
Hifi speaker Logic 7 ( I love my music)
6-Cd changer

I am hoping the DAB option becomes a tick option post the factory shutdown. Then I can listen to Planet Rock & R5live

Folding mirrors, mats and storage.

My real challenge is to pick some wheels, It looks like a simillar choice to the 325 selection...17" 18" or 19"
I really like the look of the 230 style 19's but I think they will be too harsha ride and they are a £1200 uplift
The 18" style 189 as used in the car in the UK press pix don't really appeal..nor do the radial spoke (turbine?) 17" style 187.
So I might end up with the standard wheels and look next year to change.

Oh I managed a modest discount of 3% but as the doesn't offically become available yet I thought that was Ok, pays for the leather.
Another dealer offered me 0% but a day test driving a an M6

330d is a good choice the 3.0l diesels are great.

I think the E92 build start date for the 330's is that weekend.
I only live 30 mins drive from donnington so i might just come along (in the MINI).

That date is the UK launch of the e92 & I will be speaking to BMWUK about some mutual support!

If you are thinking about coming along, then please sign up- organising numbers is a pain in the ar*e if people don't say if they are coming or not.

Thanks.

I know what you are saying as I have organised lots social & sporting events myself...

I will not be able to commit to the 23rd until probably a week or 2 before.
Thats due to a It project I am currently working going live in sept. we can't touch live systems during the week so Sunday is a regular thing. Teesside tomorrow.
But that overtime has paid for the new 330D E92 rather than a 2 year old E46

Manual is a great choice.

Discountwise - for a new product BMW can be difficult.

Congrats on your new order, I too have an E92 330d coming. That 3 litre really shifts for a diesel, and doesnt sound half bad either. On the alloys, I know you said they didnt appeal, but I went for the 189s as I think they are best choice for now. I opted for the jade grey interior (I wasnt brave enough for the red) and the pro speaker package.

I get mine last week September

Oh and nice work on the discount, I couldnt get one this time around.

Oh and you mentioned DAB radio, its a £280 option. I wasnt sure myself, I tend to load up a CD with WMAs instead.

If the DAB is an real option to tick; its a no brainer for me..I will speak to the dealer again on Monday.

looking at the Montego Blue images on this site has really got me thinking about it. It will probably look cleaner the black anyway.

still just 8 or so weeks to wait

Great choice, but if you had gone for the automatic, you would have been able to get a nice little remap and enough power to blitz the 335i

I couldn't resist the 335D coupe so I have changed my order .......now I have to wait an extra 3 or 4 weeks. late october

One advantage is that the offset pedal footwell that 3 series tend to suffer from is not as noticable with a 2 pedal car.
Plus I get the paddle shift as standard...

As it comes with sport suspension I am staying with the standard Style 188 wheel.

high-lights of the spec
  • Montego Blue
  • black Dakota
  • adaptive headlamps
  • HIFi DSP
  • DAB radio

Not told the wife yet...gulp.

Thats a great idea...
...and people in the know will notice the left & right pipes. But the effect of 428 Lb/ft of torque might give the game away.

I'm gonna keep it a secret from my mates who think I'm getting a 330D until it arrives. They kept saying get a 335 petrol, ya don't want a derv sipper

Now how much are 255/40's
