This is why I love the scientific part of CF manufacturing. I worked with stuff like this for my first Thesis on university. Complex to some degree, but interesting as hell!

No, you'd be quite wrong there! The CF is much more expensive compared to aluminum here. Prices on CF is through the roof over the last 6-8 years due to demands rising so much, that the weavers can't keep up....

They probably save a few kilos but is it worth so much labor? A guy who usually has more burgers a week can kill the whole benefit) Also how well is the CF then attached to metal frame? I would question structural integrity.

If I owned an M3 with that roof, I would have creamed myself watching this...
...and why can't BMW Group invest in some HD Cameras? Would have made it 3x more enjoyable to watch. |

Cool but costly
I know I'm second-guessing BMW's industrial engineers, but this seems like too many individual steps and way too much manual handling. No wonder CF is still so expensive! However, it's still bad-ass of course.
Also: why the hell aren't any of these guys wearing safety glasses? |

Is it me or that the final product (roof) seen a bit flimsy? How could it withstand 100+mph wind?
