BMW insurance-any experience of?
Anyone have any experience with BMW insurance?
Currently with Privilage but considering a change to BMW mainly because they are OK with the winter wheel/tyre change thing. However let's not start another thread about the tyres - just interested in experience good or bad dealing with either BMW or Privilige? Thanks. |

Was insured with them for a year. The limited interaction I had was fine and they were not bothered about the factory fitted options etc unlike some other insurers.
Another good thing I can say about BMW insurance is that they offer a 'key cover' with their policies, so if you were to loose your keys they would cover replacements/new locks if necessary. Moved away from them as they were no longer competitive when adding another driver to our policy. |

They also use BMW bodyshops in the event of a claim rather some random garage.

When I was with them last year they wanted to hike my premium at renewal by ~£200 for having winter wheels on.
I believe they've since amended that viewpoint. |

The Association of Insurers long ago announced that fitting winter tyres would not attract any extra premium from any of their members and if the Call Centre you were dealing with were insisting upon extra charges, either speak to a supervisor or write to the Insurer's office.
The stupid computer systems do not allow for winter tyres so the call centre peeps can't do anything but select "modification". |

Emailed the Assoc of British Insurers who backtracked from the position above which is what I had understood too. They say that all their members they contacted agreed no extra charge - so I asked which members that would include - and guess what, they didn't keep a list! |

Very expensive is my experience they've just quoted me £1400 which is £600 more than my renewal notice that I thought was expensive, quick look on a comparison website gives quotes of £600-£1000 so next call will be to Chris Knott to see what they can do
