Focal Door Speakers installed

I went ahead and installed my K2 Power door speakers and just thought id share some pics. I went about a different way of mounting them. I used the factory speaker and cut them and used them as the mounting plate. Also used the factory connector so no wires were cut.

This is what i was using..

Then i decided to try the stock speaker...

Sounds good.

Here is a small teaser of what my enclosure is going to look like...

Takes up 9" of trunk space.

Nice sub enclosure.

Are those the "see-thru" IDQ's?

What's the silver ring in the tweeter pic? Did you take the "cheesecloth" out from behind the tweeter grille?

Please keep me posted. I have yet to install my subs and amp in the car. Are you running the focals to the OEM amp or will you install aftermarket amp?

I used the factory speaker bolts. The silver ring is just a pic reflection, i just dropped the tweeters in and applied a little CA to hold them in place. I forgot to remove the cloth :-(

I am using Zapco DC amps for the front and sub. Probably wont be done for a few more weeks.

Very nice job on the enclosure. Love the routed edges - makes it look very clean and OEM (if something like this could be considered OEM). Looks like you used hardwood there - is that oak or a combination of oak and particle board? Looks great but heavy. How will you have these fire - straight into the back of the back seats? And is that black paint or ...? Looks like maybe leather in the pic...

Yes I'm using those but in that picture they are not on yet :-)

Honestly, The focals are just ok. Definitely better than stock.

LOL, those big ass holes in the back of the magnets! Since the back of the woofers seem to be open to the cabin (when armrest are folded down or seats down), you would normally hear the air rushing through there and some noises from the motor structure. Speakers are designed to keep all the good "stuff" on the front side and the bad "stuff" on the back side.

I have Zapco amps. I am just using the Focals for the mean time. I am getting 5x7 Image dynamics custom fitted to the bottom of the doors and im going to do under dash Image dynamics horns.

Shouldn't be that hard a thing to predict... you need midbass underseats or with theJehnert door panels. 4" are great sizes for midranges.

How do you like the Focals? I am looking at a few options including Alpine, JL, and Focal. Been out of Car Audio for awhile. (haven't even heard of Image Dynamics before now). My local shop said MB Quart isn't what it used to be.

Could use some advice. Thanks.
