Help need advice on OEM ZSP Springs
I have done searches but want to hear from others about their possible experience or advice from a tech. I am looking to lower my E91 328Xi and going to do the install next week. I am now nervous after reading a few threads on the topic and may feel that I have the wrong ZSP springs for the front. As a reference I will be mating these with Bilstein HDs.
I want to lower the front from my non-sport height but from what I have searched using ZSP springs from a 335i (spring code: D7) will increase the ride height when tried on a 328xi because of the weight difference of the engines. That said, is the drivetrain for the AWD unsprung or sprung weight? Although the E91 328xi Steptronic wagon is heavier than the e90 335i steptronic, most of the weight difference is in the rear. I believe I have that problem solved by installing E93 ZSP rear springs (spring code: D8). But it is the fronts I am more concerned about since I want lower the vehicle 0.5" to .75" and for the drop to be somewhat even. Has anyone else had experience installing 335i ZSP springs (spring code: D7) with a E90, E92, or E91 328xi with Steptronic? Thanks |

Do you know what spring codes are currently on your car? You generally want to stay with the same numbers as before but with a D instead of a C. Learned this the hard way and you may have seen one of my posts.

X-Drive Vehicles: E91 328xi with Steptronic - I2 E90 335ixi with Steptronic - I3 ZSP Vehicles: E92 335i with Manual - D6 E92 335i with Steptronic - D7 E93 335i with Steptronic - D8 E90 335D with Steptronic - D8 Unfortunately there are no 328i in the car park in my condo building. The rears are way more difficult to see and it would require me getting under the car and clean the springs to see the painted spring code. |

My 328i automatic sedan was C3 rear and C4 front from the factory. The 335i sport springs I put on the car didn't lower it in the front or rear. I think they were D7 in the front and not sure of rear. I am swapping them out with D4 up front and D3 rear.

Also, I've seen a set of E90 328i zsp springs for sale once, and they were D5 front, D4 rear. Don't know if it was manual or steptronic though. D3 rears come on E92s and are nearly an inch lower than D4 springs. |
