JB is ~$400 if you get the Tuner and CAN Tool for scanning and clearing codes. Closer to $300 for just the Tuner.

Well my OBD2 scanner came in today, plugged it into the port and read the following fault codes:

P0401 - Exhaust Gas Reduction Flow Insufficient Detection

I ended up buying the Elm327 WIFI Wirless OBD2 Car Diagnostic Reader Scanner Scan Tool for iPhone.

Plugged it into the port, turned on Wi-Fi, connected to the scan tool, and read the fault codes

I've been to the dealer 7 times since the beginning of Sep with similar codes P0402 and P0101. They seem to be trying the kitchen sink method. So far they replaced 6 injectors, MAF sensor, vacuum lines, EGR valve, EGR flow sensor, intake hose - in that order. SES came back so taking it in for the 8th time Tuesday. Every time I pick it up they say that they got it right this time.

I had them scope the intake and they said no signs of carbon build up. Hope they are right and maybe the issue is a vacuum leak or something.

My car is at the dealer right now for the first time.
injector #2 trouble. The guy tell me they will replace the 3 injectors on the same bank to make sure. BUT... he tell me that my car have a trouble of compression They will investiguate it today but its possible i need a new engine...
i have never have a single problem with the car and he pull really hard but now i really suspect the bad reliability of our 335d...
My car have 60,000 miles and is covered by to 100,000 miles.
No sign of carbon build up and i run that car REALLY hard ALL the time.

There were speculations by someone in Canada that the problem of soot buildup is unique to the USA because of fuel quality. This post confirm that it is not the case.

I postulate the speculation factor in this forum to be ~.79.

Also, i can assure you that the theory of Puerto Rican:"if you beat it like you have stole it you will not have carbon build up" is not valide... I beat that car like hell (3 set of tire this summer) and i have the trouble ...
Also i always put V-Power fuel !!

I'm not really sure even our engine is meant to be pushed that hard, but would'nt think it should matter as to causing more carbon buildup.

This post refers to V-Power as not much more cetane than normal North American diesel:
Quote:
The cetane level of Shell V-Power Diesel will vary depending on a number of factors such as season and sources, but it will always exceed the CGSB standard of 40. Typical levels in Canada are in the 40 to 50 range and the cetane improver we add (to improve starting) will raise that by approximately one to two points.

So I picked up my car last Friday and found out they needed to replace the EGR valve. They charged me $50 copay since the car is CPO. I told them that the EGR valve is emission related and should be covered under 7 year/70k miles warranty, but the BMW rep told me only certain parts are covered and the EGR valve is not one of them.

There is a warranty under CARB for "high cost" parts and there's a formula for making that determination.

Visit arb.ca.gov.

Maybe CT_335D should move to Commiefornia to get his warranty work covered.

This EGR valve they replaced, is it the "redesigned EGR valve"?

What did they say was wrong with the EGR valve?
