Talking M6 Competition Package

Here is the spec sheet for the M6 Competition Package for Canada. Only 10 are coming to Canada and none to the US.

The Competition Package is just a package that you can order but this is a fully loaded M6 +++

The key box is fairly expensive.....

If any of you guys are interested, PM me and I will connect you with a sales guy.

Not for me.... Waiting for the new M6 to see if I will remain in the BMW family.

Only ten..... I mean if you are going to spend that much money on a car I would go with more track oriented to begin with ie ferrari or Porche GT3.

TBone, why not get an M3 and just drive a great DD car.

You can drive your M6 on weekends.

I think this package is a $10K+ CAD premium too.

No one is getting too excited over this....

Considering the extra performance and the ultra grippy tyres that this M6 comes with it is actually no quicker on the track than an R8 v8 with stock rubber, at least it looks special.

I can't see how BMW will ever be able to turn the M6 into a true supercar, it would need to shed a shit load of weight and gain some seriously wide rubber at the rear to give it the kind of traction that it's power is crying out for.

No one is denying it's hellish quick but the world is full of point and squirt machines and BMW should be capable of so much more.

I remember when Top Gear took an M6, an AMV8, and a 997 S to the Isle of Man. The M6 was by faaaar the most powerful, but it had the slowest lap time.

The M6 is a luxury GT, just like the AMV8 and Maser GT... and BMW has no intention of making it a thoroughbred sports car... the whole point of the so-called competition package is to make it more special and sell a couple more before the end of its life cycle.

Considering the M6's origin - a fat luxury GT - I think BMW's capability is perfectly fine.

They haven't had a single chance (in recent history) to make a from-the-ground-up performance vehicle yet.

And who is to blame for that exactly.

I had this out with either sticky or Robin Hood but the problem is that BMW have tried and failed to make a profitable and successful selling supercar. If they do make another (which I doubt at the moment) then it will have to be radical in some way, to try and catch the potential buyer's imagination. Possibly an ultra economical supercar that combines KERS with light weight materials to give true supercar performance (i.e. 200+mph, 0-100mph in less than 8s) combined with 30mpg and only 200 CO2 emissions).

Only then could I see BMW having any chance of succeeding in this very difficult market.

Maybe I can afford the key box. Any chance they'll be sold seperately or do I have to wait for one to surface on ebay?

Where are you getting M6 Competition Lap Times?? A delimited M6 will go sub 8 minutes at the ring. This package will actually be good for people who want to track the V10.... R Compounds, EDC / ABS calibrated for R Compounds and active suspension.

The M6 is a GT, not a sportscar.... Hella fast for a GT.

If BMW wanted to build a supercar, is there any doubt they could?? Audi needed to steal from Lambo to build the R8, they even copied the propensity to catch fire.

And BTW, the M6 weighs 3900 pounds which is not much heavier than an M3....

Actually the M6 weighs 3770 pounds according to wiki and I believe car and driver. A delta of 120 pounds to the M3.

The M6 is often mistakenly confused for the M5 which is over 4000 pounds. You can feel the difference between an M5 and M6 on the track...

It is misleading to say the M6 is really heavy (relative to the M3).

Look up the internet. The SportAuto running of the M6 time of 8:09 was done with the speed limiter.
