New Apple iPhone

Hey, Apple has release its new cell phone today. It's called the iPhone and it seems pretty cool and it also does bluetooth too, so this should work just fine with BMWs with bluetooth support. Can't wait to get one.

it will work for Cingular and T-mobile (GSM) NOT for Sprint or Cingluar (CDMA)

I think you meant sprint or Verizon
I am an RF engineer at cingular everyone!! we've got the fastest (WCDMA) network out of all. and the traditional GSM network too!

only problem is, iPhone runs on GSM with EDGE, which is butt-slow (think 56k dialup, but worse).

agree with that... too bad it doesn't have 3G. How is 3G developing in the States?

Hopefully gen 2 iphone will have 3G+, otherwise I wouldn't buy it... But it's overall a great machine

I'm not sure why you would say it should work fine either. Probably less than a 50-50 chance.

did you really look at the iPhone? if you did, i don't think you could make that statement.

i don't think you can compare it with ANY phone out there at the moment. of course, if you put it on paper with yes-no checkboxes like "can play music?" "can view images?" "can send email?" "can browse the internet?" etc. you'd probably get the same answers. however, with apple, the crucial question that should be asked is not "what it does" but "how it does it." and they do it well, trust me on that.

i think at the end of the day, its not really adding more significant features. Just a nice integration of features that mac fans love to buy. Look at the Moto Q...it has a more robust feature set, has been on the market for a year already, yet, the iphone will probably crush it in sales. I like the gps/google maps integration the iphone will have, this could be a great replacement for pda/bt/gps users, but the iphone will come short on pda "computing" features.

it does have google maps, but no GPS. that's one negative i see on that device right now.

but you just confirmed what i said in my previous post. you're looking at a black-n-white picture of the situation and asking yourself the wrong question "at the end of the day, it makes phones calls and reads email and so do others. big deal!" but as i said, it's not what it does, but how it does it.
