Hi

Ive just spent 2 hours using Wonder Wheels and managed to clean no more than 2 thirds of one wheel,

My car has 22k on the clock and is 20 months old, previous owner can't ever have cleaned the wheels as they are BLACK!

I saw one post on a forum from someone in a similar situation who used the Chemical Guys Blue Rim cleaner as nothing else would shift the dirt on his wheels, even the most recommended Billberry cleaner.

Any thoughts or suggestions, it really is baked on !

Wonder wheels has always been ok for me ... jetwash them too .... get the worse off with that and do it a few times over a week or so before resorting to spending more money ...

Stuff stinks like a dead rat, but it'll shift the baked on iron deposits with ease.

Wonder Wheel works really well compared to all the other stuff I've tried. Stinks though. Accidentally breathed some in before when the wind decided to blow towards me and it actually burns my chest when I inhaled it. Not good. hahahaha

Having said that though, there are some tough crap inside the wheel that I can't seem to get off that are properly baked in.

And the old places where the wheel weights are. Can't get rid off those sticky stuff?

I thought wonder wheels was a bit dodgy cos it takes the laquer off.It looks good for a while but then your wheels end up with no protection at all and the grime gets set in.Is this not correct?

Scholl Rim7 is the best stuff I've used on wheels - quite like iron x but also general cleaner too

I'd recomend Wolf's Chemicals Brake duster / deioniser which is a cheaper alternative to Iron X.

Lots of suggestions here for 'wheel cleaners' If a ACID like wonder wheels didn't remove it none of the 'wheel cleaners' will either.

You have caked on brake dust which is full of iron deposits. You need a product like Iron X or Wolfs deioniser to attack those stubborn stains. There are other Iron removing products on the market like AB Purple rain and as mentioned already Scholl Rim 7. I would go with either but my go to product for scenarios like this is Iron X. Wolfs takes longer to break down and you need more product. Both will give exceptional results, the results you won't get from a normal 'wheel cleaner'

Ill give the iron x a go then, With lots and lots and lots of elbow grease Ive shifted most of the grime from two wheels, but its taken a whole litre on WW and Im still not that sure about using it because of all the reviews about yellow wheels and peeling lacquer etc

Let us know how you get on. Remember spray it on liberally, walk away.. VERY away. lol. Meantime it will 'bleed' as the chemical gets to work.. takes 3-5 mins, agitate it towards the end then a firm rinse.

The smell isn't as bad as it used to be but still for a first timer you'll be hoping your neighbours don't catch a whiff or they may think your odd lol.

Thanks for the advice on the Iron X - It arrived this week and I put it to the test .

Its amazing stuff! Makes Wonder Wheels and all other cleaners Ive tried look pathetic.

I seriously wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, but it was great, Im very impressed.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an excellent tar and glue remover now please as I have black tar spots on my side skirts that need shifting.

The best I have used is Tardis. Easy to use and shifts almost anything. As with all these things I would only use it after I had washed the car, then you need to rinse it off before you wax.

Good stuff isn't it

Tardis works great and Auto Finesse Obiltarate is worth a try too. AF Oblitarate comes in 500ml bottles which is plenty to do wheels, body work and still enough left.

Only just getting into the second half of my 5L tin of Tardis, had it for 3 years, useful stuff even for round the house jobs.

I got some autoglyn tar remover from Halfords

It works a treat all the tar was removed straight away
