B12 chemtool or seafoam along with manual scrubbing will work.

Thanks rotorocious.

What about a fuel additive though? Anything work well or not worth it...

Fuel does not travel in the intake on our cars, nor flow over the valves

^ Yup, won't do a thing for the valves.

Don't trust your dealer if they try to sell you on one either. Scumbags.

I had mine walnut blasted yesterday by the dealership under warranty. Not sure if all dealerships cover it under warranty though but my 335i was bogging/skipping under partial throttle and it fixed the issue. Powerband is now smooth and linear. I have 42K miles on the car and the valves were really gunked up. I have since installed a BMS Oil Catch Can in hopes of preventing that from happening again.

Whoever is close to JAX you should definitely consider having this done by e90TiAg335i.

Awesome this is all I needed a reference to go ahead thru with it. Hopefully he can do mine this or next weekend!

Getting yours covered under warranty?? Was it getting really bogged down upon acceleration? Mine hesitates at times...it's an 08 with 50K miles on it.

Without it throwing a code how did the dealer cover it? We're the symptoms that easy to reproduce...?

BMS Oil Catch Can is a great solution for this issue. I had mine done at 80K and the gunk was almost half a centimeter thick. Crazy how much build up there was. I could feel the better engine response. Well worth the money.

Fwiw: the carbon will come back. Even with a catch can. The can will help but its not an end all solution, eventually they will get gunked again.

Northeast Motorwerks in Middletown, CT does it, but it's not much cheaper than the dealership yet as he just started doing it. I had it done with him and I'm very happy with the results.

There is a place just North of DC that does it for $400 - Fleming Auto. I also installed a catch can after the walnut blasting. Seafoam doesn't put a dent in the gunk on these valves unless you do it every 3,000 - 5,000 miles.

How much was it there? I got a quote from Munich Motorsports in South Windsor but it wasn't cheap enough to make me not DIY it.

We charge $400 for our walnut blasting service .

That includes cleaning of the charge pipe and intake manifold in our ultrasonic parts cleaner as well.

For $500 we will complete the walnut blasting service as well as replace the oil filter housing gasket if requested since it requires removal of intake manifold.

We are located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mention this post and I'll give you a 10% discount on the service.

$500 total for blasting and OFH, or $500 more?
