Just booked reservations at a SB Resort with ocean view for 425, which sounds a bit high, but the place is 90% reserved, and I figure if I'd spend that much on sway bars, I might as well treat myself to a nice mini vacation.

are you freaking serious?? I dont have that kind of money to spend. I figure gas alone will cost me $100 already. Shoot I might end up not going if it's gonna cost couple hundreds. Im broke like a joke right now.

Can you get some friends to go with you and share the cost of a motel room?

I did a little research and there's a Residence Inn in Oxnard. I got to thinking this must be near the BMW VPC and possibly Port Hueneme where our cars came in. Might be fun to visit the place on Sunday even. If Santa Barbara is all booked up, you might check a nearby city. I'll do some phone calling for you.

Addendum: Okay, I just checked the Residence Inn in Oxnard. For a studio (these usually have a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, fireplace, etc. it's 129 for the night of April 8. It can sleep 4 people, so if you split that 4 ways, you're looking at around 33 bucks a person + tax.

Also check the Hacienda Motel at http://www.haciendamotel.com/reservations.php at $59 a night

and Motel-6 at

If you like to camp (like I do) then you can check out some campgrounds in S.B. That might be fun, and definitely affordable!

hey thanks a lot man!! I'll def. check those out. Camping sounds fun too. Some peeps wanted to go but when they found out it's in SB, they backed out. Thing is, none of my friends drive bmws...so they're not really into bimmerfest. I'll see what happens though. Thanks again!

I don't believe there's a Marriott in Santa Barbara. It's about 40 miles away in Santa Ynez Valley. Are you thinking of another?

Thank you. $129 certainly beats $425, and though the reservation blocks closed, Toby referred me to someone who squeezed me in at the special rate.

Keep in mind that this place is about 20 minutes away from the fairgrounds, but that just gives me another excuse to take a pleasant drive.
