Exclamation e92 335i - Weird Overheating Problem

Hey everyone,
Hoping the forum can help shed some light on an issue I'm having with my 2008 E92 335i. I'll try to be as thorough as I can as I don't want to miss anything.

Within about 10 minutes of driving, the fan starts sounding loudly. After some moderate stop and go driving, occasionally the car will lose power but the power surges right back slowly while the gas pedal is floored. It's not a limp mode power loss and no limp mode warning comes up. A few times after long periods of stop and go driving, I have gotten a yellow engine overheating warning on my NAV display.

I had the water pump and thermostat changed in Dec. 2013. I had the pump checked recently and all is fine there.

I have just about every bolt on mod there is but I have no tune on the engine. Could my bolt on parts be causing havoc with my ecu without a tune to regulate it? If anyone knows what this problem could be it would be really helpful.

Thanks, forum!

Without getting your car read for codes, you will be guess everything.

But, did was the air bleed from your sysytem,
Are you loosing coolant?
Over heat and fan running are a sign of water pump and Tstat failing(Ed).

Look up water pump DIY... BAV auto has a great video.
In part 2 of BAV auto, it tell you how to purge the air out of your system..... Try it... It and you don't need to go to a mechanic.

Check coolant before you do it.

Do not continue to drive the car w/o further investigation, overheating the engine is bad and will cause a host of supplementary failures to fix.

These are symptoms a failing water pump. Now you say it's been replaced less than 6 month ago, has the purge procedure been performed after the replacement ? If not, cavitation can destroy a pump quicker than said. You can try the purge procedure hinted by DarkNemesis (you do nothing, the car does it itself), if it doesn't help, the pump maybe is damaged again.

Another possibility is the temperature sensor itself which could be defective.
