m3 rep fitment help
I know that the rep will not truly fit like oem quality but i am curious if anyone had to really push the bumper to get it to fit? I have a e90 lci, I removed the brake and oil cooler duct for test fitting (might cut later) to make sure it doesnt get in the way, but getting the edge of the bumper to line up with the fender is quite hard without pushing the bumper in and angling the screw.
Also between the headlight and grill area seems to be a pretty big gap (not sure if this is normal of my ocd). This is what it looks like when i get the bumper in place but without forcefully pushing to get the edge to line up. I can get one side lined up but not both of them. This is after i was able to get the screw in where the bumper bolts to the fenders. The screws for the most part are at a angle that i def dont like and i didn't try to tighten them all the way, didnt want to break anything. You could also kinda see the headlight gap. Is all this normal?? is this how the fitment of these reps are? |

eBay seller europeanautostore or something like that.
It's not getting snagged on the under tray, think that actually lined up ok for the most part |

Fitment was pretty tight on my M3 rep from RW Carbon. It fit like a glove, but my screws went in just fine. There definitely wasnt a lot of wiggle room though. It did help having a second person there to hold/push the bumper into alignment while I put the screws in. I'd like try getting help from a friend and see if goes on easier.

It looks about right for a rep, a body shop might have some tricks to get it to fit better. I have an E92 pre LCI and had similar issues where the bumper is almost like it's a hair too small. It goes one, but you have to use some force to get the fender bolts to go in. I couldn't ever find if it was catching on something, mine felt like it was hitting the bumper support. And there were some small gaps around the headlights. It's not perfect, but relative to most aftermarket body parts, it's not bad. On previous cars, I've had fiberglass body kits that were expensive, but we still had to do stuff like cut sideskirts into 2 pieces and rebuild them or slice off parts of bumpers to fit. Only perfect fit is going to be OEM. Aftermarket stuff doesn't go through the same quality control so the same factory is going to put out bumpers of different quality. One may fit perfectly and the one made right after that may not. Only way to get it right would be to go to the warehouse and test fit bumpers until you get the perfect one. Other than that, it's hit or miss.
FWIW, make sure you get the fender screw on solidly. The part it screws into is plastic. On mine, one side didn't go in all the way and I think I scraped on a parking block which promptly stripped it. I've gotten a replacement, but haven't had a chance to install. Bumper's not going anywhere, but it's annoying to have that little gap there on the fender/bumper junction. |

thanks for the info! I had my friend pushing the front side (which ever i was working on) that was the only way i was able to get those screws in the way they are lol. I cant seem to see if it's catching on anything either, seems to be the bumper support as well. Just wanted to make sure this was all normal and i didnt get sent a shitty bumper before i sent it off for painting.

I just love how everyone keeps stating the rep bumpers 'all come from the same place'
Total BS & incorrect Obviously there are good fitting rep bumpers & shitty fitting bumpers My JGMods rep bumpers exhibit none of the problems with fitment shown here. Had my local BMW dealer paint/install my JG rear MSport bumper - they didn't even know it was a rep until I told them - said it fit perfectly with no problems as OEM My front JG bumper I installed myself with absolutely no problems or tweaking needed & it fits perfectly If buying rep bumpers I would suggest that you buy only versions from vendors that you have many clear good reviews for & experience from other installers. You're already saving $$ buying rep over OEM, yet you need to save even more & buy from eBay??

Mine was direct placement and no modifications. A body shop might have some techniques to get it to fit better.
