Gilmour Foamaster II

If you guys have been in the market for one of these, Amazon.com is selling them for $36.26.

I bought one too. They sell for between $55 and $60 everywhere else. Figured why not.

Thought I would update this thread. I got my product yesterday. It was defective. Could not keep the tip on when I put water through hose. The three little round balls, which are supposed to move in and out, never engaged enough to lock down on the nozzle.

As a result, I am returning the product for an exchange. Also, I've been notified that Amazon will not have this product back in stock until August 8.

Got mine a few days ago as well. It was missing the long nozzle and I am returning it as well. Amazon set up to send me a new one....sometime in august. I told them not to bother. Also, the gun handle's plastic casing on mine wasn't even clipped together. Whatever QA Gilmour has, it's not enough.

You are pulling back the black plastic ring that's around the three little balls when inserting it to the bottle's end and then pushing it all the way forward again to lock right?

So i guess the catch is they are trying to clear out defective merchandise, and will only exchange those who bother for an exchange?

Exactly. And when I push it back, the balls don't go out far enough to lock the piece in. It's lame. Very weak.

That could be it. I know some people are too lazy (ok...guilty sometimes myself) and will just make do with whatever. Probably why they like to do "mail in rebates" instead of just selling at a lower price.

I sent them a few emails expressing my disapointment, but I have no confidence that went anywhere. I will be mailing them back the item at their cost for a full refund, so they're out shipping x2. I have not had much problems with amazon, so I am not thinking they purposely do this, but they do sell through other parties that may and I am hoping such shops will get weeded out.

I ordered a foamaster II through an ebay seller and if I get a defective/missing part item again, that guy will be getting a very bad review that reflects the services rendered. For now, I got a fertilizer feeder at walmart that soaps up the car fine, although nothing like the shaving cream lather that the Foamaster seems capable of.

Mine arrives today, so I'll have to check it out and see if it is defective too.

It's allegedly the same product (not a knockoff). No way a consumer would think otherwise. What's more, Amazon.com is the direct seller here (not one of those shops within Amazon).

I don't get your point in this scenario. Instead of going the cheap route -- and getting an inferior product (which is usually how it works) -- I figured that Amazon was selling the real deal at a price that's closer to cost.

I haven't used it yet, but all the parts are included, intact and fit together just fine.

Chemgeek, great. I'm particularly interested in the part that was defective on mine. Tell me if yours works fine.

I'm hoping that I just got a bad unit that is not representative of the entire bunch.

If I understand your situation correctly, it sounds like the hand nozzle piece does not correctly connect to the foaming canister? If that is the case, mine locks just fine. That's a prefabbed connection piece, strange that wouldn't work. Can you post some pics?

Already shipped it back. But yes. You have it right. The part that locks down (the three little metal balls) does not lock down tight enough. As a result, the pressure makes it slip off.

Ordered mine from amazon as well, last year. First time I used it, the long black nozzle shot out at the car! I just about shit myself. Tried it again, sure enough, same result. Now when I use it, I make sure I hold the nozzle. It is a decent product but not what I was looking for. I guess when you see all the pics of the foam cannons, you expect a little more. Prob wouldn't buy one if I had to do it again
