No I havent had the chance to get down to Simi Valley. Been stuck busy at work and school. Sorry. I'll get down there as soon as and if I'm ever able to because I'd love this as much as the next.

The system is based on current to the FWD clutch system correct? Im sure there are checks and balances in place, but interupting the power to the system that engages the clutch to apply power to the front while the JB4 interupts to make sure 0 current, or if its always on and removes power for engagement would be amazing. We could in theory also lock up the system to be full time 50/50 like the subi's

+1 for a great idea. i wish cobb, shiv, or terry/mike would comment in this thread because as of now iv been subscribed for about a year and not once have any of the tuners had a word to say. Even if they were to comment and tell us it isnt possible i would appreciate it. You would think after so many pages of comments and numerous people interested in this feature someone would try and take advantage. From observation alone in NY and the north east in general i can tell u that xdrive is the dominant drivetrain for the 3 and 5ers, and if u live in the tri state area u know that bmw's are very common making the r&d well worth it.

I have discussed this with Terry. He mentioned that he may or may not be able to do this- if I were able to make it down there we would do different things, measure resulting effects of possible methods at achieving this, etc.

Problem is, now I have no time freedom and my girlfriend whose family lives close enough to simi valley to justify the 6ish hour drive from where I live... Is now an ex!

To anyone in southern California that owns an xi- make yourself known and help develop your damn platform already!

Edit: proposition: If people on this thread pool up enough to buy me a new FMIC, I'll schedule with Terry for over Thanksgiving weekend (I know for sure that I'll be down there then) if he is available to spend time on this then. I'll provide any proof needed that I went, we gave it a full genuine effort, etc. I'd accept any of the following: AMS, ETS, VRSF, etc. not interested in an Ebay FMIC. I'm reasonable

Why cant this development be done remotely?

i.e hook up a laptop to OBD/JB4/wherever, have Terry/Shiv/Cobb remote into the laptop and examine if its possible (same concept as ATR remote tuning).

I suppose they would also have to share whatever software tools they use but I'm sure its nothing proprietary.

There will be needed measurements of power and resistance at the transfer case when its doing its job, then with the tuner will need to go between those signal and sensor wires to intercept, alter, and still feed the computer of the car readings as if its doing as its being told. Not a difficult task in my eyes for these guys as that is what they are doing when adding fuel, boost, and so on. Im just sure there are so many fail safes with this system it will take time on some rollers to see how things react.

If more people here are interested he would be interested in producing more.

Desert-storm90: if you guys can come up with a solution that allows control w/o error lights you can make a lot of xi owners very happy (and there is money to be made if costs can be kept low and the solution is PnP). BMW is selling a TON of xdrive models now and nobody has even scratched the surface of controlling the center diff. It's really a market ready for the picking.

I expect something for this very soon. Jeff spent today studying how the XDrive works and from reading and visual, he knows exactly what they are doing.

The electronics would be drastically different than the DCCDPro or ETSPro products but It seems very possible to do.

With that said expect something soon guys.

I personally need this for my custom proyect. But to have this in production it is solely based in the demand on the market for it.

When I have it working in my car you can see how it functions as I will be tracking it.
