For e9x after 03/2007 you need k+dcan cable.

I purchased the ebay cable pictured below, ORANGE led comes on, it's set to com1 but when I try to say connect to airbag module it times out with communication error and LED goes out.... any known fix for these?

What year is your car and are pins 7&8 soldered?

10/2007 yes pin 7&8 soldered, latency=1 last ft232rl driver ad i'm using com1 port with vmware machine

mine was late 2008 build, does someone have a source for the GREEN PC BOARD cables that do work?

i need too because the white board i think that not work and i would like to modify my cable

There are cables with white boards that work but the ones with the huge transistor with the hole in the heat sink as shown above fail 4/5 times. Also, try asking a random ebay vendor if the cables they sell are exactly like the picture and have the green board and they will say "yes it does but the color of the board does not matter they are all the same" and then they will send you a cable with a white board and you will plug it in and try it and it won't work and after you try it a few times it won't even show up in your device manager and you will be out $20-$30 unless your vendor refunds you (and most of them will.) Most likely you are in that boat but try removing the solder between pins 7&8 first because that cable will never work on your car with those pins connected.

Bought the two versions K-CAN and K+DCAN plus four DVD disks of software (virtual machines) from a UK seller for about $120. The guy is selling only tested cables, provides clear install instructions and excellent support. Both of my cars talked to the software from the first time.
