I think the fault is on your SAs. My car was ordered on sept 5th and and it took maybe 2 weeks for it to end prod. From there another 2 weeks till it got on a boat.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks in production for mine, 4 weeks since I ordered. That video of the production line makes it look like it should take 3 days. I think the "track my car" on the BMW site is just messing with us.

I have been at the port for five weeks now and there is no eta on the shipping. I now there is a delay with updating the 800# tracking so hopefully the status will change for some us this week. |

My 335i is a South African build. I am use to tracking my cars when they are built but I could get no ship info fromt he various websites used to track maritime shipments.
I do remember that the car sat at the port for over 3 weeks. I was told at the time that all shipments went to bremerhaven first to pick up more cars but I do not think that is true. Anyway, I was unable to follow the car after it was built. Simply waited for the call from my dealer. As for quality, there is nothing I have seen, felt or experienced that would lead me to believe the SA cars like mine are anydifferent to their German built counterparts. Still on the original HPFP

Just got an update from my dealer today. Though mine has been in "production begins" stage for 3 weeks according to the website, the dealer's report has it in the body shop, not even painted yet. I guess the original quoted 8-10 weeks will be on the shorter end of the potential wait. Looks like some people waited 3 months+ for delivery.

I know this is not new info but I just tried the 800 # for BMW NA and you get a bit more detail, kind of like asking the CA to get a report. It will tell you the production status # (150, 151, etc.). Problem is it says mine is in the body shop with a completion date of 10/18. Great, oh wait today is the 24th. How is that you say. The rep I spoke to said there is some inherent inaccuracy to the system, delay in updating etc. For this talk about tracking, I should just quit until I get a call to pickup my car...but I won't.
I still haven't found any clear place to get the ship info and track it en-route for SA cars. Anyone know if they still go through Bremmerhaven like those posts from 08 suggest?

Well if it makes you feel better the 800# says my car hasn't entered production yet but the website says it has. Kinda weird though bc IIRC from ordering my last BMW the 800# was a few days ahead of the website.

3 week eta to east coast no stop in germany (I received confirmation today that mine shipped out last week) I cannot confirm this but I believe that they are only shipping about once a month from SA.

Mine is finally "in transit" as of Friday. It was built in Germany though. I ordered the car on Aug 27th.
For me the website is about 24 hours behind the 800 number. |

Now that I am addicted to the 800# instead of the website, I can report it too is a few days off. Yesterday status was body shop est. completion on the 24th (the day before) and today it is order complete waiting to be released to carrier. If that is true, awesome but now come the shipping.
Any bets, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months? I'll go with 2 and hope for less.

Awesome! I am going to start bugging my CA for ship info later this week. Some of the ship tracking tools are pretty cool. Something else to do while we wait. Hope they don't have to make a pit stop in Germany like some say they used to.

Let me know what your CA says. Mine is "in transit to the port of exit." I'll try to get some info from mine when it's on a boat and see if we are on the same one.
