Curious what everyone thinks about the update??
I got the stick from Tischer and the code from Serge and it updated to 2013 version in about 45minutes.

I have a 2011, so guessing my version was from 2011 (or really 2010 info).

Up until my update I felt the nav was horrible. Poor navigation, and addresses not showing up.

Now with upgrade, I'm seeing same problems.
Case in point: Looked up a LOWE's in Howell, NJ and got the address on POI lookup.
Lowe's is located at: 4975 U.S. 9, Howell, NJ 07731

However Navi wont accept the 4975 (using ENTER ADDRESS function) even though that is what is listed in POI. Navi did accept the POI when clicked, but routed me across the street to the 4976 address.

I found this to be the case very often with my 2011 version.

I hoped the conversion to TomTom would clear these issues, but I'm dubious after a few days.

Hopefully, I see some improvement after spending $100 on an upgrade that may contain data to year-end 2011 then anything in 2012.

P.S. My own house number is still not reflected. It was built in May 2012.

I've had in-vehicle OEM navigation systems since 2000 and I found that consistently most addresses, on average, take about one calendar year to be reflected in the database. The database was probably finalized around May/June of this year to be ready for a fall release. I wouldn't expect to see it until the fall 2013 update.

2009 success!

Build date of 11/08

Downloaded the torrent in 12 hours and copied to USB stick in 30 minutes. Got the fsc code from (******* at inbox.lt) in an hour and updated the car in 1 hour.

All fast, easy, painless!

I have a 2009 328 xDrive with a build date of 09/08. I have downloaded the torrent, copied the folder and file to 2 different 32gig flash drives. I plugged them into the USB port in the glove box, inserted key fob, and started the Nav and nothing happens. Am I missing something?

thanks, I can understand that, but don't get why POI's are accepted, but a manual entry of the same address is not accepted.

It's like the databases of POI's and addresses are not shared.

Still hoping this TomTom version works as well as the standalone units.

you need a software update to be able to update maps via USB. a trip to the dealer for you. good luck as they wont just update unless something is wrong.

Did my 2011 today with the code from Sergej, took under an hour and was self explanatory.
FWIW he charged $50 EUR for the code.

Sweet, loading my maps in the car!

For future users, take the files out of the download folder and put them in the main directory. Mine wouldn't recognize the file structure without doing that.

Good luck and thanks!

I'll seed a few more days.

Success!

Downloaded the maps, seeding it now, bought a 32gb flash drive (took 60 minutes to copy the files), tested it (got the "start update" option), bought the fsc from ******* (awesome!), loaded the maps (took about 50 minutes), and voila.

I have a 9/08 build, but maybe the previous owner had the firmware updated.

I bought the FSC code from Sergej yesterday which took around an hour turnaround time. I then starting downloading the torrent, which took about 8-10 hours total, and ordered a Sandisk 32GB flash drive from Amazon for $19.99. I have Prime 2-day free shipping but sometimes things get delivered the next day, so I was happy to see it was on the truck for delivery today. It took an hour to copy the 21.2GB worth of files from my PC to the USB drive.

The file that is available on the torrents, once download is completed, will contain 1 folder (called pkgdb) and a file called config.nfm

I simply copied that folder and file onto a formatted (fat32 in my case) 32gb flash drive.

In terms of installation, I inserted the USB drive into the glovebox USB port and powered up the car (accessory mode or car start). I did accessory mode, but turned off climate fan/angel eyes and auto headlights to minimize battery drain.

Once the Nav has booted, a screen will pop up telling you a navigation update is available and asks if you want to upgrade. Hit 'yes' and it will prompt you for the FSC code. Once a valid code is entered, it will transfer the upgrade files to the hard drive (took me about 30 minutes - so much faster than the DVD's!). After the upgrade, it will ask you to reboot the system. Hit OK and your CiC goes dark and boots back up with the applied Nav update.

If for any reason the process is interrupted, it will pick up where you left off next time you power it up. No need to enter the FSC code more than once.
I followed these instructions and it worked exactly as described. Initially I was a little concerned because it kept showing 0% for longer than I was comfortable with then it suddenly went to 9.4% and then incremented steadily in 0.1% increments.

I went in to eat dinner when the update was at 68%. The car went to sleep while I was eating dinner. I went back out, hit the start button, it took a minute or so to recognize that the USB drive was still in the port then it again asked if I wanted to upgrade. I selected OK and the status went to 97%.

Copied the files over (which took about 40 minutes on my PC because of the file sizes) turned the ignition on, plugged in the flash drive to the USB port in the glovebox and about 30-45 seconds after the iDrive booted up the message came on the screen saying there was a navigation update available. Select 'start update' and off you go. As others have mentioned, this method is *much* faster than using the DVDs.

iDrive needs to reboot once it's done. If you go right in and look at the navigation version on the screen immediately after the reboot it might be blank. This is normal. Let the car go to sleep and then start it up again and run it and it should show the correct 2013 version.
Once it hits 100% it pauses for a minute or so and then says that it needs to restart. Click OK and iDrive will restart, Nav will restart. I pressed and held the Start button to shut everything off, then pressed it again and when everything came back up again I selected Nav, then Options/Software Version and it showed the screen above.

Thanks to everyone that made the files available, for the e-mail address and feedback about Sergej, and for the great instructions! It couldn't have gone smoother!

Thanks again for the help. Apparently I didn't have the shopping cart bug but I just told them I was unhappy with a bunh of other things too and wanted to take advantage of all the new tweaks and changes. It seems a lot faster than before to navigate.

Read through the first few pages. I had to change the torrent as the first one wasn't set up right.

Just over at the CCC maps thread, they have redlight info on those maps must be a hack of some kind, just wondering if this can be done for CIC?
