Help! Left over residue after Zaino treatment
So I did the the "Zaino" program on my Jet Black 2009 335 coupe over the weekend: Dawn, Clay, ZPC, ZFX w/Z-5pro (3 coats). I also used Z-6 in between the Z-5 applications. After attempting the buff out the third and final sealant coat, there is some type of residue that cannot be buffed out. It is either the z-5 sealant, Z-6 enhancing spray, or a combination of the two. ( can it also be left over ZPC that was used prior to the sealant??). I am afraid to buff too hard as I may cause swirls....Any idea what I should do. I might also add that the temperature here in LA was around 55F-60F during the detail.

If your MF towel is soft, you can buff it off a bit harder without causing swirls. If you leave it on, you'll eventually get it off through regular washes, as SP335 said. But when I see spots like that, I prefer to take it off right away.
Try using less product next time. I'm sure you felt like you used very little, having seen the warnings about this, but you need to use even less than you think. When people complain about Zaino being difficult to remove, inevitably it's because they used a bit too much. I used to have the same complaint.

It's the Z5. Make sure you wait long enough for the product to dry (and like BK said, use less product). Then wipe down with clean MF towels, using new ones as each towel become too congested with sealant.

Looking Back, I probably shouldn't have used ZPC or clayed the vehicle. I probably ended up adding swirls and/or light scratches (as I am new to claying and polishing). I was just following the steps detailed on the sticky, "Performing your own new car prep". The Z-5 did seemed to cover any swirls/scratches the clay and ZPC may have added. For my own piece of mind, I am hoping that I didn't add additional swirls but rather they were there before and the dealership used some type of sealant/glaze to cover them up. Regardless, the are some light swirls/marrings present and I am a little bummed.
I am actually thinking of getting the car professionally detailed to correct any damage. If I choose to go this route, should I strip the car of all sealant I put on (using dawn again) before putting the car in the detailers hands? This way he can see what he is working with. |

Patrick, I didn't seem to get any phone calls from you....I sent you an email though. Perhaps you can send me a PM with the contact information for the person you mentioned earlier today. Thanks again.
