Do all cic pro Nav units come with voice control??

Anyone had any experience with using the cic emulators that enable navigation, voice control and video in motion?

Update on the CCC retrofits. Just filling in a couple of part numbers there were not listed on boosted's PDF.

Controller Harness (61138380696)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...61&fg=15&hl=12

CID Harness (61136954526)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...5&fg=50&hl=118

12 pin housing 61131383736

Looks like the CID harness might not be what we need since its a 8pin instead of 12pin so I can be totally wrong. Someone please chime in if they have the info.

The above part number is correct if fitting monitor for the old CCC unit. You need the 8 pin socket if fitting a HD monitor for the newer CIC unit as mention above.

So the 12 pin harness should be good to go.

I'm confused is there a parts list to get this done. Trying to work out the cost if I get parts used.

What would I need besides the controller, head unit, screen and navi dashboard?

The tech (who spent a lot of time and who I believe honestly wants this to work) was unable to get program manager (progman) to talk to the CCC. Based on the VIN on my car, progman was looking for M-Ask, not CCC. The "retrofit" program (business to professional), as much as I had hoped, did not work in this case. He attempted connecting several times, and did some other out-of-the-way procedure whose name escapes me, to no avail. Without the "gateway" (CCC, or in my case, the RAD2 radio) responding to progman, the system stops and won't program anything. It was still a little unclear if my CCC (of UK origin) was at fault, but I think we believe it has more to due with the car not being built with the module than the module itself. I have a couple of printouts that show the sheer complexity of the systems, the engineering, and fault diagnosis. Amazingly, there is a fault stored for the CCC fan not working (which I hadn't even hooked up for this programming since the CCC wasn't installed in the dash.)

His next suggestion was to have a new "vehicle order" created by BMW engineers to reflect the change of equipment in the car. Evidently, this is done commonly for other retrofits, when tech's have problems, or systems go haywire, however, it is out of the norm for a technician to accomplish and cannot be done solely at the dealership level.

Game's not over for the retrofit, but this is not a simple programming "update" or retrofit as most had hoped or thought. I will be talking to a few other people (in the know) regarding this and keep everyone updated on the progress.

Frustrating though, since this thing works like 75%. (Things not working: all audio, all telephony/bluetooth/SOS-assist, traffic info.)
Everything else works perfectly...steering wheel controls, satnav, vent controls, controller, CID, trip computer, date/time, etc...

Let me if anyone has programming suggestions or other ideas....

I encountered different problems:

my car is 2009 model 330d sedan, without idrive, I got all idrive parts from a 2006 model 325i coupe, I've done all hardware installation: get dash replaced, get the radio professional replaced with the CCC and also installed the idrive nob. and also a third part GPS antenna, so far:

things working: radio, CD player, steering wheel controls; vent controls, controller, CID, date/time;
things not working: satnav; usb audio input; aux input; all telephony/bluetooth...

I believe a reprogramming job needs to be done to make satnav and aux input to work, but don't know how to do it yet...

I am about to embark on this similar project (latest NBT system actually) on a non-iDrive 2008. What is the absolute minimum that must be on-hand and ready to install while the dash pad is completely removed?

I'm still in the process of collecting all the parts necessary, but would like to pre-plan which parts to prioritize and custom-build (if necessary) in advance so that I can limit the down-time of the car with the dash pad off. This will allow the car to be at least drivable while I take my time installing the rest of the "non-essential" (i.e. not needed for drivability) components.

I am actually doing this process myself. Just started gathering a list of stuff I will need and the necessary info. I'm however in no rush to have it done as I want to make sure everything is good and set in my possession to have it done. I'm def down to share my findings.

Let me know how it goes.

I've been looking for a reasonably priced, mint condition "double scoop" dash for the past 6 months with no joy; I don't want to spend beaucoup bucks for the NBT system only to have it languish on the side (the hardware adapter is still undergoing developmental testing anyways), but I could be waiting forever or next week before I find an acceptable used one (I have one lead in NorCal that I will take a look at in next week).

I will keep waiting for a couple months more before biting the bullet and buying a brand new one ($930 shipped).

Anything is possible. I retrofitted few non- nav to complete nav systems on E38. Recently I did my E92 from CCC to CIC this one was just replacing parts so don't count.
The dash just has lots of wires but difference is nav dash has room for screen. All wires same. Just make sure you run all cables before installing. Cables like iDrive to center console and from media to screen.
Also take your time. Like the saying goes measure twice cut once.
Good luck. When we do these things we appreciate our cars more. Never purchased new car but little by little my cars have latest equipment by retrofitting. E38, E46 & E92
