Winter Tyre Pressures Help

Been checking here and elsewhere on the net and there seems to be conflicting views of the correct pressure for tyres the car is an E92 335d
If im reading it correct on the inner door it recommends 2.8 bar approx 41 psi for the fronts and 3.3 bar approx 47 psi for the rear for a 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear tyre set up for a loaded car
However there will only ever be me and a passenger in the car dont carry anything in the boot and there is never anyone in the rear
The tyres are non runflats Hankook winters
Could anyone advise on this or post there own pressures up obviously want to try and elimate excess wear on the inner or outer wall but dont want to run too much pressure and then have excessive wear on the tyre centre
Any help appreciated

Thanks Sean

Don't you have a second set of figures on the door shut placard?

The idea, it gives a range of pressures. If you are on your own most of the time, then the lower range is more appropriate.

I personally run similar to the summer tyre setting pressure, assuming the same tyre size, etc. But also remember tyres don't necessarily warm up as much in winter, in a lot of use, so may need a couple of extra psi to keep up the ideal working pressure, which is really the one that we are setting for anyway.

FWIW I am certain I prefer the handling on mine running on the higher of the two settings offered (the one for more passengers) on summer tyres despite almost always being one-up.

However, for the winters I ran the lower of the two offered pressures last year with no problems and this year am running the higher (having decided I preferred it on the summers) - not sure I like it with winters so am about to try the lower of the two settings offered...

I am also running Hankook winters in the same sizes as the OP, have mine inflated to the standard pressures for ligtly loaded car and they seem fine. I think from memory this equates to 35psi front and 39psi rear, I did initially try them at the higher setting but that was far too hard for normal load i.e. just me in the car with no luggage.

The side walls of these Hankook winter tyres do seem particularly stiff, mine are XL rated and seem litttle different to the Pirelli RFTs that were on before them from a ride comfort point of view. I wonder whether this is part of winter tyre design or Hankook generaly have very stiff side walls.

Hope this helps

I normally run 37psi up front and 41 rear, +1psi on both when car is loaded. The pressure will change with ambient temperature, I recheck all tyres whenever there is a meaningful change in air temps with the objective of keeping the pressures as stated

I run 35 front, 38 rear. When the pressures are set up for fully loaded, (40/45 ish) the traction control is constantly intervening.

36F/39R, same as for my summer non-RFTs. 18" staggered.
