Tyre advice!!!

Ok I will be switching to normal tyres in the next few weeks....

I am looking for 235/ 40/ 18 Vredestein Ultra Sessanta everywhere....(non in stock....)

I would like to know if anyone has tried 245/ 40/ 18 tyres for the front wheels?

I have oem style 189 BMW wheel (8 for the fronts and 8.5 for the rears)

Ideally i want 235/ 40/ 18 for the fronts and 255/ 35/ 18 for the rears....

but the 235 are out of stock....

Any advice on putting 245 tyres on the front wheels?

I'd wait until the 235's are in stock!

Have you tried Tyremen Kev?

I don't see why not, that's plenty within the margin for that wheel width.
The tires will be slightly taller so your speedometer will indicate ~1-2MPH lower.
Why not run the M3 sizes? (245F - 265R)

Stick to the correct sizes Bro,

Not only will it feel wrong with that combo, it will look wrong too.

I'm running correctly sized Sessantas currently.

Lovely.

i am not quite sure that wrong front tyre sizes would affect the speedo readings.

kev, why are you putting oversized on the front?

Stick with 225/40/18 IMO.

This. 225/40/18 is one of the most generic sizes around, they'll be cheaper as well as more choice.

Thanks for the input guys....

Mike, I think that 235 would suit the front better ....and will help reduce understeer....

I feel that 225 tyres are a bit "thin" for such a heavy front engined car... Might be wrong...just my opinion...

245 tyres are oem on the Audi TTS...

It's usual to upsize both front and rear - i.e. 235 f & 265 r

i can't upsize the rear :-( ....maximum width that would fit is 255....as i have the 18 inch tyres which are 8.5....

Kev, if you upsize width remember the diameter will get bigger too as the profile is a % of the width.

235 won't reduce understeer, which I don't think we suffer from too much anyway, road understeer is more a characteristic of the chassis rather than lack of grip.

225 is fine up front on a rear driver, TTS is 4WD and very nose heavy remember....
