How much room do you have in the front? I've read that the 235/35/19 PSS rubs the fender liner grill for the oil cooler.

I have an IS and was wondering if a 245/30/19 would work up front. Doesn't seem to be too popular of a size. Guess it doesn't matter if the PSS in 265/30/19 for the rear are not available.

I did before that size. Now I'm running Bridgestone Potenza re11. The RE11 according to tirerack are same section width and diameter but re11 run 0.2" wider tread. Shouldn't be a problem with the PSS.

Not to thread hijack but what tire pressure are y'all running? Guy at Discount Tire said I should be running 41 psi on front and 46psi in the tears in my 19inch PSS. Doesn't that seem crazy?

Yes. You should be running what the door says regardless of wheel or tire size for optimal wear, mpg, handling, durability balance.

No issues with front with 235/35/19 PSS.
On the tire pressure, been advised to follow the stock psi.

265 is fine for the rear if you want wider, but 245 for the front is too wide IMO. I would go no wider than 235.

Depends on what you're pairing it with. I have 305 rear. 245 is nice to match with 275+ rears or in a square setup.

I've run 245/35-19 and 275/30-19 DWS with no *fitment* problems... Now let's talk about damage due to s**t DC roads, that's why I'm not anymore. Currently running 245/45-17 square BFGs also no problems. Cannot detect any rub even at full lock/parking lot maneuvering.

Mayors need to fix potholes to get reelected unless the city is so far one party it doesn't matter. DC is one of these cases.

Yes could be, I just feel the weight with the original 225s is perfect, didn't have grip issues even driving hard through mountain roads.

You're right fitment shouldn't be problematic with those sizes (I never tried 245s though). Maybe it can benefit on the track, but in my previous e90 I kept the original width of the front tires for street/mountain usage, didn't feel a need for wider fronts. Michelin PSS.

It's just more grip. You don't feel the weight. You feel planted.

If you go 20 more in the front yes there's more grip, but you'll feel the steering a bit heavier. It's related. Not a huge difference but a difference.

Yes, but I prefer heavier steering. I was saying 10 more, 235s. I'm at 245s now front, 305s rear. Had to faise it back up too so higher center of gravity. Extra grip should compensate in the corners though. Start driving it Monday. It's having a burst outlet replaced.

I was really doing it for a) looks and b) figured that going 20mm wider all around and keeping the same aspect ratio would increase sidewall height which would make the tires less damage prone.

I was wrong on b), I killed literally all of the tires. Hence going with 17s...

I went with 245s again in the 17" wheels for the same reason. And now I'm actually 10mm narrower than stock on the rears, but I'm using factory 8" wide wheels so I'm limited there. Yes steering is heavy but not objectionably so. Rides quite nicely.

Where do you drive that you kill 18s? I'm good on 19s.

Garage List
Been calling around Jacksonville, and it seems the only one with anything close to a touch-less tire machine is BMW dealer. Nice to hear they are willing to mount tires if I bring them in. Still leaning towards PSS, service guy recommended against increasing to 235/275, referencing the possibility of messing with wheel speed sensors, etc. Is this a real concern for a 1% difference in diameter?

Nope. I've been on that combo for 200k. If it's an Xi you need to be careful and if you're on oem wheels it won't fit right. That said pss are perfect for jax.
