I think I will get this exhaust for my 320d :

MV Sport website - http://s864.photobucket.com/albums/a...%20E90%20320d/

Ebay auction - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-320d-E90-E...item41586b57b1

What do you think of this ? Do you have any better offer ?

Matrez, It's a lot of money for what is essentially a cosmetic mod. Changing the back box/rear silencer on a 320d will do very little if anything at all for performance and the car will still sound the same. I'd save your money and just get a tip fitted for less than half the price and put the savings toward a remap.

The BHP gain they claim with the dyno graph pic in the first link will be down to the map they mention rather than the silencer. Even changing the downpipe on these cars without DPF will give a max gain of 5bhp at the most.

Yep, thats true, waste of money, especially if its 300 pounds...
Here I found the same exhaust for 100 pounds less, hmmm strange :

Yes, I think I will get some nice double stainless tip done on my 320d. I live in Manchester, do you know any good company near by ?
I would really appreciate your help

Thank you

well I'm having no luck - rang Unique Exhausts in Stafford today to enquire about having one fitted like MEGA's - he said he couldn't fit any of the twin tail pipes onto a 320d

So i thought sod it I'll get one of the Ripspeed ones from Halfords - they didn't have any....

Never thought it would be this difficult !

I just bought and fitted the BCS exhaust as in your link. It is the same as an MV Sport only cheaper and really does look the part. There is no more noise and it does seem to pull a wee bit better but it could all be in my head. Send Nige an email and say Steven from Northern Ireland recommended you get one and he might do a bit of discount. Top guy to deal with.

Ohhh, thats very nice Its a really good price for what it is and if its just the same as MV Sport one it looks really good
Is it easy to fit and would I fit it myself without any special tools needed ?
Could you post some pictures how it looks please...

Thanks very much,
I am waiting for the photos,

Mat

Hello,

It is simple to instal, just cut the std pipe and use the attached fittings, prob best leaving it to an exhaust place tho if your not 100% confident in it cause once you cut the pipe theres no going back lol.

I havent got any pics of mine yet cause i have to get it up on the ramp again and cut a slightest bit more off the std pipe to allow it to sit right in the centre of the cut out. Once i get this done (prob this week) i will post some pics.

Oh Nige from BCS used to be the technical and design director for Blueflame and he is the one who manufactures the exhausts for MV Sport.

All right. So the exhaust from BCS is too short (the pipe) to fit directly into original joint on the exhaust system, thats why you need to cut it and use fittings to join both ends right ? Cant you weld both ends ?

Here is structure of genuine exhaust system :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E90-3-Seri...item5191ccbe85

The first joint is really far away...

Its just a back box and joins just after the first bend on the exhaust.

You are talking about original exhaust system now right ?

No the BCS one is just a back box, its not a full exhaust system. You have to cut the standard exhaust system then using the supplied joint you attach the back box to the standard exhaust. Look at the pictures on the ebay link and it will show clearly the size of it. and if you look at your standard pipe you will see that it will need cut.

When you use the joint supplied, are there any fumes coming out of it ? Cant you just weld the back box supplied onto the standart exhaust ?

Nope its sealed with the clamps and you can use a bit of paste if you want too. You could weld it but then you couldnt remove it and go back to standard if you were selling the car.

The only thing is i dont like the supplied U Bolt clamps and im replacing them with Mikalor clamps this week.

So the BCS pipe has excatly the same diameter as original then if you are using mikalor clamp. I hope it will not loosen and no fumes will come out of the joint.

Cutting the original pipe is very tricky hehe...

If I weld both ends I can cut is again later on and weld the original on if I am about to sell my car. Its a lot safer I think

Post some pics of your exhaust

Thanks,

Mat
