New Wheels going on, Stay with Lug Bolts or go with Studs.
I just recently picked up a set of wheels. I've been thinking of switching to studs and getting locking lugs nuts for my newly acquired wheels. My question is, is there a benefit to switching over to studs or just get a new set of wheels bolts...?
I don't plan on Racing/AutoX my car, just cruising around and getting from point A to B. Guys with A/M wheels or vendors can you guys chime in and give me your input. T.I.A |

i think studs looks better especially if you have a nice set of wheels going on. Its also easier to mount and change wheels with studs. I'd hit up ryan at motorsports hardware very good stud kit selection

If you don't race they don't need to be swapped out but def check them periodically. They make different sizes if you don't want them to stick out.

Depends on the offsets and if you're running spacers. Ryan at motorsporthardware.com is the best to ask. 57mm is close to stock length. 75 works up to 10mm spacers of aggressive offsets. Plenty of options in between
What kind of wheels did you get? Last edited by mbanks21; 07-03-2014 at 11:03 AM.. |

i've run MS 75mm studs on both of my cars since hmmmm, last summer I think? They look cool and make removing wheels faster. And it was an excuse to get Project Kics neochrome on the E88 lol.

Studs are nice if you change wheels often or use spacers as they making mounting much simpler.
HOWEVER, be warned that many tire shops wont change your wheels after stud conversion. Some, like ATC, will ask your to bring the wheels in loose. I do it but unsure if you'll run into that problem and/or don't mind it. |

I've never heard of shops not wanting to change wheels with a stud conversion. Regardless I do most of my work myself or one of my tech's do the work for me. |

I run 75 mm with Kics lug nuts. The length you select will depend on your spacers (if you have them). I swap my studs every two years just to be safe. They look better (with the lugs) and the wheels are easier to mount as other have said.
