Anyone have replace their injector on N54?

Just talked to a mechanic and he told me that my car is not worth to keep if warranty haven't replace the injectors on my car yet. Mine is 08 E92 with 80000km. I plan to keep the car for another 3-4 yr and I didn't get any extended warranty, so should I need to worry? How bad it is if I have to pay for the injectors?

I'd like to know this as well. Maybe cost at dealer vs cost at indy shop. I've had 3 of my injectors replaced while under warranty.

Luckily there's a good DIY on here for injectors and coding seems easy as well.

121$ injector + 8$ for the decoupling element
+ shipping.
You also need an INPA cable to code the new injectors:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BMW-INPA-Edia...ht_1188wt_1163

But if all the cylinders on the same bank are misfiring I think your problem might be something else. How old are your spark plugs?

I routinely install injectors for people on the forum, and they require coding into the DME to function correctly.

What's the symptom if injector is bad? will there be code throwing out? I just casual talk to my mechanic so it is not after any kind of diagnostic. If only $120/each then not really that bad.

I have cpo, but I do know about the recall, If your car is giving you injector or fuel related codes, I would ask the dealer about the recall anyways! if you ask them maybe they will help you out, you never know I guess. good luck...

Depends how busy I am; understand that I'm not out to make a living working on cars but don't mind helping people either.

I think $150 for one bank with coding is fair. Maybe $180 for all six.

Dealer replaced all 6 of my injectors out of warranty for free. +/-$2000 was the quote on the sheet. I paid $0.

Huge difference

What issues were you experiencing prior to having the injectors replaced?

I took it in for misfires. The injector change reduced the misfires but not totally gone. I get multiple cylinder misfires. Im thinking the coils may have to be replaced. I also have the wastegate rattle may be losing boost pressure.

I will be replacing the coils shortly. The Dealer has offered to replaced the turbos. They offered to pay for turbos but i have to pay the labour. They say $2200 to replace turbos. Better than $5000 but still a chunk of change.

I am at 79k miles and out of warrantee. There is a TSB on injectors going bad on cars produced in certain months. Mine fits in AND is throwing a code relating to injectors.

Injectors are basically guaranteed to go bad. Usually 2 or 3 at a time and they will only fix them as they go knowing full well that they will all go at some point. Ridiculous. Car is pretty much undrivable so the customer has to get stranded AGAIN as I explained to my service guy. He said yes you are right. BRUTAL.
Never have I heard of one manufacturer having so many known problems with an engine and yet people continue to buy them like crazy.

Called them today.. If you don't have warranty, you don't have a case.
Oh well, Its not super expensive to replace.
I'm in the midst of doing them too ... They didn't even start acting up until the last 500km (I have 144k) and have been modded since 70k

How do you describe "acting up"?
My car lately has developed a shitty idle at stop lights and cold starts...I already have the updated injectors.. Already did an intake cleaning and spark plugs... Donno what to do next...
