Should I SELL my E93...or not?
Hello mates. I am the owner of 2007 E93 335i who currently resides in California. Recently, due to a premature and inconsiderate care for my car, four tires have been broken badly. Well, then I just came to ask my self, do I need to keep this car, or should I just sell it for a new car.
The thing is, I know that the tires would not be covered by any warranty or anything. That is that. But, if something goes wrong and happens to my car, such as a turbo or something, it would cost tremendously much money, right? I just have about 22000 miles on it, so it is basically a new car. Then I have asked few friends who own BMWs, and they all say that I need to get rid of it as soon as possible before the price goes extremely down. I bought it for little more than 33 grands and people say that it would now cost about 25 grands. I don't want to believe it, but that is what people around me say. Obviously, they are not experts like you guys, though. Well, I love my car. It drives like new and it feels just like new. I mean, how could you not appreciate the joy of driving a 3 series, top-down? However, the question still prevails my head whole day. What do you guys think? Is it too old that I need to sell or is it something that, objectively, worthwhile to keep? If it is, I would love to drive it for at least 5 more years, regardless of how great the all new 3 series are. Please share your opinions. Every comment will be appreciated. Thank you very much and have a nice day! Jay |

KBB puts it at 31k in good condition, and 32k in very good condition without adding additional options. Adding premium, sport, and navigation, it brings the totals up to 33k for good and 34k for very good. Also shows trade in around 30k. Just take it to a dealership and have them run a value estimate. Once they give you your terribly low end baseline trade in price, you'll atleast know where to start if you want to do a Private Sale. KBB is always just an average, and not always spot on, but the average person wanting to buy a car will compare your asking price to it, so it's always a good tool to use.

What happened to your tires?
The car isn't going to depreciate much differently than anything else you buy and a lot less than something new! If you are really worried about having to fix stuff, you can always get an after market warranty - it is a BMW and like any luxury european car, it will be more expensive to fix and likely to have more issues than a toyota camry, but I would rather pay a bit more than drive a camry!

I would keep it. That's very low mileage. You have another 80,000 to go before anything potentially major. Yes, get an extended warranty.

Just get new tires. Go non runflats and you'll notice how much more quiet and comfortable your car will feel!

buy something newer and you take a new hit of depreciation. A set of Conti Extremes will put you around $900 and like all above mentioned, get a 3rd party warranty. Your car will be brand new all over again. 22k miles on an 07 is GREAT.

It doesn't surprise me. Some people don't want to throw good money at bad. While that isn't the case here, some would rather not allocate capital to something they don't want or feel they aren't gonna keep.
Considering I just sold my 17 year old car last week. I consider a 2007 E93 basically a new car. But that's just me.

change car immediately. the damage is done and not to mention its old and outdated. need to keep up with technology and the rest of the world. try for a new f30 335i. then about a year after the new 4 series is out and switch to that. rinse and repeat. there, endless happiness.
sounds like a solid plan

E92/93 Are Classics!
I have a 2007 E92 MT with low mileage, and every day I drive this car I love it. One of the best all-around car designs ever!
I have carefully looked at the new F30 and anticipated the 2014 coupe, however it will be labeled (3 or 4 series). Almost no improvements. Changes that are bad: 1. 3.7 inches longer 2. auto stop-start function 3. eco-pro 4. electric steering (numb) 5. protruding, non-retractable LCD screen over dash 6. asymmetric cockpit/console 7. several other useless technologies to satisfy EU mileage/emissions requirements I have decided that the newer model is actually inferior and I suggest you keep your classic. |

I think you guys are not understanding the post... it's not about the tires, it's about the realization of having to cover things out of warranty. So OP, that is what it comes down to.. if you can't or don't want to pay out of pocket from now on, then yes, I'd say you go get something else...
