And people wonder why insurance companies have to raise their rates even with no insurance claim...

There is no way that work was done at night, unseen, in a 5 hour time window.

The thieves were pretty selective about what they took. And you really didn't hear any noise as they punched a hole through the door's metal? That seems odd.

Going back to that insurance fraud idea.

It's just weird how the glove compartment is not open, how the center console still has cables coming out from it, AAAANDDD, if they went thru all that trouble, why didn't they take your wheels/rims also?

Also, it is is obvious they knew how your car works, how to get in, that it didn't have an alarm and what they wanted from it, so, why didn't they just take the car and go thru all that work right in fron of your house?

And, one more thing, the way hey got in your car, i'm sure it was not silent/quiet in any way, so, why didn't they just break a window to get in?

You can call him...

I blurred out his info, even though its public knowledge, because he is selling stuff on here...with the same number.

no insurance fraud here. the center console and glove compartment were closed by me. wires are cut all over the engine bay and the bumper is cut. I am also surprised i did not hear anything. it actually angers me that i didn't hear it. Van nuys CA isn't as bad as it use to be but its not perfect. we still et a lot of ghetto birds flying around occasional home burglaries and shootings.

edit: i come to the forums to share the tragedies that happens to e92 like most do on here. no point in posting all this if i was really in it to do some sort of criminal act.

Don't listen to these fools they obviously have no idea how quickly or quietly a "pro" can get into a car. It takes a lot less time to take what you want when you don't care about putting it back together after.

They likely had a buyer for these parts which is why they were so selective. No point taking your obviously non OEM wheels when they'd stand out.

That really sucks man I've had issues in the past with thieves and it really hurts. There's pretty much nothing you can do to stop them other than get a garage. Car alarms are a joke because everyone just ignores them anyway.

We used to have a Dodge Caravan, and it was broken into when my wife was at work one day. You wouldn't even know they had broken in until you saw the key cylinder on the floor. Luckily my wife always left it out of fuel so they only thing stolen were a couple of CDs.

+1 you people really are oblivious to think this couldn't be done or heard in a timely manner by a pro. Lol. Do some research people before you talk about a subject like this you have no idea about.

Sorry to see that OP good luck with the future and dealing with the insurance company

If it's on eBay, eBay works with police departments. Make sure the officer fills in a request for further information. eBay will provide a lot more information about the seller than the public will ever see.

Unfortunately you'll have to do your own leg work online to give direction to the police.

Good luck.
thanks for the info

OP, after the tree incident, it didn't occur to garage or protect the car somehow? I know I would have...

Your comprehensive premium will likely keep going up regardless of how "coincidental" things are with your car's record. Not a good place to be either way...

Isn't that the truth. The cops don't even come to see. I know they are busy but basically there's no repercussions for people doing this because there is zero chance they will get caught after the fact. The only thing that might happen is someone catches them in the act and then they just run away

blackmamba shed the light in my eyes. Fraud all over the place.

I love the picture with the limb that just so happened to fall on his strategically placed car!
