£1600

What extras????

I paid £868 for a multi-car policy which includes the other halfs 'Shed', my Impreza STi with all mods declared, my Renault 19 16v which I restored and my 335i.

I'm 29 so got the big discount you get at 25 and I'm due another discount next year when I hit 30. Saying that I do have 6 years NCB but £1600 seems a bit steep for an oil burning family car regardless of how old you are.

Very nice.

At 19 getting insured is a task itself. £1600 is a lot but I know 19 year olds paying that for £1000 cars.

1600 is NOTHING for a 3 litre BMW.

I paid 1900 for a 320d at 22.

It's because you live in a very safe postcode (All of Hampshire is A or B rated).

Alot of the people on here are too old to realise how bad insurance has gotten

The missus (21, but license less than a year) just enquired about ensurance on a 1.4 VW polo and got a best quote of just under 2000.

My first year driving when I was 18 I paid 2200 for a 1.1 peugeot 206 THIRD PARTY COVERED ONLY.

I'm now 25 and paid just under 900 for insurance for the E90 before I sold it.. With 4 years no claims. And I spent an entire day shopping around and playing brokers against eachother for that price.

So you've got a very good price to be fair!

Oh, and welcome to the site! Got any plans for her? You could find some of the old pics of mine as a starting point

Dave

Lovely motor buddy,

That is also a cracking deal on insurance. In hampshire 16 years ago for a 995 cc £1200 for a first car.

An now my 320d just dropped to £474 sweet.

I dont think £1600 is too bad in this day and age for a car like that at 19.

When I was 21 I paid £1200 fully comp on a Astra GTE 16V - but that was TWENTY years ago lol. So given inflation and all - I dont think that is too bad for a 19 year old.

What's the other LCI on the drive?

Lovely car, Scot and at the tender age of 19, a very classy choice. Far better than the pimped up Civics and Saxos.
At £1600 for insurance, I think its a snip. Some teenagers are paying up to 3 grand for a wreck.

Paid £650 on our fleet policy for a 330i M sport..

Fully comp etc etc at a nice age of 20.

My E46 330d was cheaper at £600 if I remember correctly and that was at 18.

I have just had to change my insurer from Swift cover, because upon purchasing my 335i, they wouldnt cover my dad who is 61 as a named driver (who was covered with them when I owned my e46 325i) to LV who would cover him and I have had to pay £950 and I am 26 and have 5 years NCB as I didnt start driving till 21 (Epic Fail I admit).......

So I think at 19, £1600 isnt a bad price at all. I expect the Coupe would of been more mind.

The OP's story is similar though with regards changing from a small car to a big BMW and not paying much more in insurance as when I started driving I owned a 1.4 focus for 9 months, got made redundant and bought my old e46 325i with the money and the premium actually went down, just because I had a years experience without claiming.

Lovely choice of motor by the way.......and you went for the best colour ;-)

Car insurance is cheaper for those with a history of not claiming on their car insurance. Who would have thought it
