Keep on mind in Europe many beemers with diesel engine is using for merchendosers and Sales Representative and this guys often drives for example from Poland to Holland, France, Italy ( about 500miles) just for sign one paper and next day get back and about 3-4 times a week this time of travel ( thank god Polish autobahns have 100mls limit and germans are derestricted).
Turbos on 35d are really quite good |

Keep your car with up-to-date software in modules , use good oil ( Motul, Liqui Moly, Millers) and love our car, it will give you back great milages and lot of fun .
Problem is , when i was at my friends garage near Oxford for couple of weeks i've seen lots of blokes treat their car like bag of Sh*t , and it was for example really pretty le mans blue 335d LCI model , when i get it for software update and remap i want to cry literally... Paintjob destroyed, interior smells like piss mixed with cigarettes, breaks almost dead, turbos whistling like old cu*t , really many islanders dont know how to treat cars. I even had an idea of start a garage by myself in London or Oxford , im a biggest BMW fan , and all my cars are treated with full love , but money i need to spend on it blown my mind plus i will need to work there alone cause i dont know any other coder/tuner/comp diagnostic bloke like me, most of them are blood cu*ts looking for any way to stel some extra money from owner or are lazy as sloth , Irish and Scottish mates are worst ive meet in my hole life in term of good hard work with cars.... Sorry for long post Last edited by cyrano; 08-14-2013 at 04:24 PM.. |

Hi Prices depends on way of doing it and there are two ways: - Official ( stealership do it for about 400-600pounds as far as i rmemember using ISID official bmw tool, you can also try to find a person near your place that have icom and access to ISID and ICOM - Second way is to do it remotely or by yoUrself using DCAN cable ( about 40pounds) and custom files taken from ISID - im quoting my customers here about 200-250 pounds for that In case of changes , its something like update your iPHONE/ANDROID phone, sometimes changes are minor sometimes they are major. They can add some new features, lower consumption of petrol/diesel a bit, sometimes more responsive throttle, better/faster gear changes, caliibrated Air conditioner, brighter angel eyes ( if car is LCI and running on halogen bulbs) activate break force display etc. |

Any easy way to know which updates are available for your car, like an online database of some kind?
I've used bmw's website and it keeps telling me I don't need any updates, but was wondering how reliable that was. |

Well thats not true , for example CAS and JBBF is for sure updated in ISTA 50.2 , best way is to find someone near your place who have online acces for bmw server and check for updates, or just find somebody who have those files and try for yourself

My e30, though, has 313,000km on the clock (I'm the fourth or fifth owner). Took it 23 years to hit that, lol.
