I have a question. I have a 2006 325xi. Does anyone know why my remote only works from about 6-7 feet away from the car? I try to unlock the doors and only works when im almost by the car. Its not like there any obstruction on the way. Any idea?

The battery is not rechargeable in the the key fob. You can get a replacement for about 3 bucks at any drug store. Also since you have a 06 if you haven't changed the car battery that could be getting weak to. Tint can cause problems also others have reported. |

Do you have tinted windows? Some tints seem to affect the range of our remotes. My range is like yours, ridiculously short. Same as my previous E92. I had much better range before I had my windows tinted on both cars.

Yeah, you get used to it after a while though.
If you search on here, there are a lot of threads about brands and types of tints that DON'T reduce the range. But I know I'm not ripping off mine so I can reapply and get further to unlock my car

If you have comfort access, when did you last change the battery in the remote?

I don't have comfort access - my key unlocks from at least 20 feet away maybe more. I don't have tint.

If it's a Comfort Access remote, then it should be obvious: pop the cover off the back of your remote. This is in your owner's manual:
