Hello people, I am new to this forum and I speak bad english sorry :$:$ I have a bmw e90 325 production date 2005/10, with radio proffesional production date 2005/09. But I have the stereo gong and stereo pdc gong, so i think for the stereo gong's we do not need a LCI radio proffesional.

Surely, your coding is not working. Its coded to L7 and your equipment is not enough to code it.

Use ICOM to code it and it will work like a charm.

or another method is hacking your car to change the way it communicates with the radio.

or sell it and buy a radio which comes already coded to your car.

sorry, what is the question. If your car is 2005, then its radio v1 and AFAIK, it cannot be coded to have decent gong.

With "Hacking the car" you mean to change the method of communication through Tool32? I tried, but without success.

At this point, can BMW dealers code it?

Need the MOST fiber loop too or it is not necessary?

hi,
I'd previously looked into adding this to my wife's 2006 118d as the MULF but was quicly discouraged. This method lookls to be far simpler.

I just have a couple of questions if someone could help.

Will the professional radio wiht built in bluetooth fit the pre lci dash on the E87?
Does the USB work with Ipod?
Where does the usb go on the E87?
are parts list the same as OP?

What is the black "twisty" thingy sticking out of the back of the OP's headunit?

For example, the headunit in the attachment below also has USB, but instead of that twisty "finger" sticking out of the back, it has a short metal pin of some sort. What would be the difference between these units then?

It's just a mechanical support. There's a hole in the back of the frame the unit slots into to receive it and provide vertical support in the back despite only two screws up front.

Another question: AFAIK, the "standard" implementation of BT support in US cars uses a dedicated speaker installed somewhere in the foot area next to the steering column.

What about these radios with integrated BT? This DIY says that all one'd need is a BT microphone. No extra speakers. Does that mean that this radio will use the regular sound system speaker(s) for that purpose? If so, which speaker will it use? All of them? Or just the one in the driver's door?

P.S. It appears that I saw the answer to this question somewhere here, but I just can't find it.

BTW, I'm looking at two radios with built in Sirius, Bluetooth and USB support. The part number label on one radio says 6512 9302171-01 "Sirius, Bluetooth" and on the right it says "COMBOX / BMWRCD". Another radio says 6512 9263480-02 "Sirius, Bluetooth" and on the right it just says "BMWRCD".

Neither radio has MOST connectors in the QuadLock.

What is the importance of that "COMBOX" bit? What exactly does it mean in this case? Is there any difference in compatibility between the two?

I believe the combox unit will have built in 6FL

Combox Unit is only suitable for Navi cars. You cannot install in non-CIC cars.
You can find a similar ECU called MULF in cars made before 09/09 and it was the unit that provided BT and USB over MOST to all cars.

In general, all BMW use the same speakers for Music and HandsFree. Only the basic BT preparation used an independant speaker.

Just got the head unit installed the other day and to my surprise it was just a simple plug and play where I did not need to program / code it

However SiriusXM is not on the audio menu maybe because I haven't plugged in the antenna yet and then afterwards would need to activate it.

Just Got This Installed Really Happy With The Results

Hardest Part - Removing The FZD Module To Install The 84 31 6 938 762 Hands Free Telephone Microphone (Tips - Push It Down Through The Headliner) & Removing The AUX Connector To Replace It With 84 10 9 237 653 USB/AUX-IN Socket (Tips - Carefully Pry It Out Then Use A Pliers To Completely Remove It).

Note: Didn't Need The 84 10 6 936 148 Cover, Microphone, But Had To Make The Wire Connecting The Two Ends.

Tips:

Routed The 61 11 9 129 360 USB Extension Cable Through The Console By Removing The Hand Break Cover & Routed The Microphone Wires Underneath The Glove Compartment Then Removing The Pillar To Routed To The Headliner.

You are in the exact same boat as me! From what I've gathered, sounds like you can get the 10+ Pro HU w/ BT & USB built-in, but it will have to be coded. I'm not 100% on this, and would love someone's confirmation that's experienced this! So much cryptic info out there...

Same thing in my case. Everything worked immediately after connecting the radio. (BT and USB works, Sirius is not in the menu).

However, I have two issues already described by others in this thread:

- The gong is ultra-loud because the headunit is programmed for non-amplified "base stereo" sound system, while my car has HiFi sound system with an amplifier.
- Voice command is ultra-loud too and speaks in German.

So I'm gonna have to do some coding to make these adjustments. The problem is that none of the BMW "coding" outfits in the area want to have anything to do with it ("This is the first time we hear about this retrofit. We don't want to do it because of potential liability issues"). Apparently I'll have to do it myself...

Dear fellows, and mostly Jose_JN for a great thread!

I would like to share some of my experiences on going through a successful retrofit. I have a 05/2005 European E90 with Business CD and base stereo. I found a factory refurbished 10/2011 Professional CD radio with USB, Bluetooth, and Satellite radio receiver. If I remember correctly, the back of the radio had 3 FM/AM antenna-size connectors in different colors, plus the larger white USB Fakra connector.

I did not want to mess with the A-pillar airbags, nor ceiling microphone, so I ordered E92/E93 steering column upper cover and microphone. With my car it is fully compatible, although the microphone provisions do affect the non-mic cover shape slightly.

The hardest part (after getting the A/C panel out) was definitely removing the old aux-only input in the center console. I dismantled the rear-seat air vents and managed to flex the black air conduit. That way I was barely able to get to the otherwise invisible metal clips holding the aux-in module in place. It too two nights and sore fingers to remove it.

The USB cable was installed under the center console side trim by removing the footwell upper cover panel.

Uncoded radio gave the intermittent clicks or pops from the stereo right from unlocking the car regardless of the radio power. Probably this is the MOST bus error. Bluetooth also communicated with the iPhone 5. I didn't have the microphone prior to coding so I don't know it if would have worked fully. Front/back PDC gave the double beeps.

The coding was done in the fashion already discussed here:
-Add $663 to VO in CAS and FRM (no business radio code there)
-RAD2 is now visible in the ECU list
-Code PDC ecu with the current VO, this gets rid of the double beep.
-Replace build date to #0311, add $6FL but only code RAD2.
-Bluetooth didn't appear after that, so $6NN was added and re-coded. Then reset RAD2.

USB, iPod (ebay y-cable), and BT communication worked right away, also "PARKING" was in radio menu, no SAT anymore. The mic wiring to the quad connector was prepared to the steering cover. There is a small opening which lets you pass the two wires quite directly.

Last, I installed the microphone and steering cover. It did not work right away, so I would recommend keeping the mic connecting wire easily accessible. I had to swap the polarity of the wires, and after that the microphone started to work nicely.

I just finished, so I haven't tried the sound quality in traffic yet, but the car standing still the sound quality with the unorthodox E92 mic appears to be very good. The telephone volume can be adjusted from the radio knob.

Just one addition to my previous comment:

I unintentionally tried Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation in iPhone 5 with the bluetooth active. To my great surprise the voice guidance came through the radio bluetooth, and the radio properly paused USB music playback for the duration of the instructions.

What does "but only code RAD2" mean? You add $6FL to RAD2, but not to CAS or FRM? Or something else?
