That's the least of his problems- the glass plate is 'severely stained' as a result of trying to spit-roast the Bratwurst, or whatever she was called, on the way back from Germany last month.
BMW Warranty just don't want to know, unfortunately.

Think the original iDrive on the 7-series was WinCE, but the CCC system that debuted on the 5-series switched to vxWorks. More info on Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive

I don't see why all the sarcastic comments.

Surely you are not all stuck so far in the stone age that you would accept the poor excuse for an electronic system that BMW have placed in our cars and have the interest in hacking it to see what it can do.

I would be quite interested in having the car react exactly how i want it without going to a dealer and paying £££ to have it done.

You just replied to a question you asked in 2009. Are you aware of that?

What?

My i-Drive is fine thanks, there's nothing stone-age about it at all?

Idiot.

Alright Dele, no need for name calling, bit uncalled for.

Let's seriously think about this, it is dated, they have tried to update the idrive but it's still clunky and boring. In my opinion, you are spending this kind of money on a car, it should allow you at a very basic level adjust all options about the car....mirrors folding, light flashes on lock etc

Then if we start looking at the likes of range rover having A2DP streaming as standard! Then the likes of ford putting this new system in the focus which looks as if it will piss all over the I drive.

All I'm saying is that in the age of the iPhone BMW can do better than what they have. The new app add on is a start, but judging by reviews they still have a long way to come.

Dele you may be happy with yours, but if we were all like you the world would never move on.

Are you comparing the old system to a new one?

BMW makes pure driving machine's not application coding. Yes the fords media system might piss over BMW but BMW will piss over them at all other aspects!

I agree with that, everything else is better, but again, you can't tell me they are not app coders when they have the ability to have a fully communicating fibre optic system in the car.

Point me in the direction of a good cable and I'll have a look.

The E90 is how many years old now?

And your comparing its onboard computer to new cars?
