I just ordered a new toy the other day.

Should be in sometime this week I cant wait... And I am thinking about picking up a sig p232, I rented one this weekend and what a gun, shot 100 rounds in it and not a single jam and the gun had basically no recoil (which is rare for the PPK type look alike guns).

Ha ha - this is one of the best O/T threads - you Americans are classic. "Never more than 10ft from a gun" lol.

I have to say, being a Canadian, I don't have any guns (they make it rather difficult to get them here - and I guess I'd have to get a concealed carry permit (good luck to me - no idea why I'd need it) in order to carry like you guys), but every time I'm in the States I make a point of it to go to a range and rent as many guns as I can just to try them out.

So far Glock has impressed me most (whether its a 9mm, 10mm, or whatever), just with the overall feel, reliability (very little jamming), and its reasonably accurate too. But I've never shot any of those $1,800+ guns referenced in this thread, so its entirely possible they'd be my new favourite.

I did shoot a .50 cal pistol once, holy crap. Why do they make those anyhow - I can't see a use for it unless perhaps you're hunting for bear (with a pistol naturally, cause a rifle is just too easy). I must confess to completely missing the paper target with one of my shots out of the whole box - but at the end, gotta say, my wrist was really stinging, I'll never shoot a .50 again.

Let's keep this thread going - some pretty funny responses. I'm honestly not certain if half these people in this thread actually expect to be attacked at any minute or something....maybe its just a Canadian perspective where I'm not overly worried.

Its not an American thing for me

its a global deal

I feel that way EVERYWHERE I am. But more or less its because of the nature of work. I also happen to just like guns ;+). Theres bad places everywhere, but you choose not to be in those places. But sometimes you have 2, or sometimes they come to you.

hehe

ROFL blapppp

No I don't carry on me at all times, sometimes I'm not allowed... ROFL

I've just chose the right professions in which guns are part of it and truth is, its sad that it is needed, even though I enjoy firearms.

In the near future i've been working on plans for my own biz and now I gotta save for the tactical equip that needs, but got some time.

I've been an EMT for a few yrs now as some side work and per diem. Anyway the worse feeling is knowing you got a call that you have to strap on a vest for

i always keep a gun nearby. magazine in, but not locked. ccw doesn't apply to being inside your house, so the only worry are little people (i don't have kids so its a non-issue). getting a CCW in california is hard as hell, so thats the best i'm ever going to do i think.

My sig 226 is great never has jammed on me, super accurate. Its a 9mm model but plan on getting a 229R in .40 next for carry.

That can be very debatable, its all in gun control. There are plenty of people who are responsible and SHOULD be owners and have permits.
