smoked amber overlays - (firearm)

I saw a post that a memeber here "firearm" or something to that nature, was making smoked overlays for the pre-lci amber corners of the headlights...

Is he still on here?

Still making those overlays?

I have a black car and feel I NEED these things now.

ditto

I'd like to know this too.....

I seem to recall reading a thread about these and the fitment was just so-so from what I remember.....meaning...they were better than the amber but didn't completely cover ALL of the amber....not a great fit..

I have some left over gloss black vinyl - think I might just take the time to do an excellent trace job and try putting vinyl on mine...unless I find a better solution without spending $2K for new lights haha

How is fitment? I guess for $25 bucks you can't really complain...

But makes me wonder if I shoudl just get a sheet of tint and do my own trace, and cut out my own... might be more trouble than its worth cause I'd doubt I'd get perfect fitment the first go round.

I 100% want smoked or tinted ambers, i don't want the ambers completely gone or blacked out, IMO that just doesn't look right.

Don't know where you got the $25 from, but it's $13.95 shipped on his ebay store. I have these and while they're not 100%, it's a lot closer than I'd ever get. Worth spending the few extra dollars and saving yourself the headache, IMO.

Just saw this, I'll try to get some for you in the morning.

I did a "wet" install, using soapy water, and got it to line up pretty well. Not too difficult.

i too need to cover the amber. ive seen some use vinyl, amber overlays, and one had a nice tint with VHT Niteshades spray tint. oh and bimmian sells painted cover that look great but are pricey. the vinyl sounds good but my car is monaco blue and black vinyl wouldnt look good. i would like to see pics of what some have.

Ok thanks, def looking for some more pictures

You do have the smoked overlays correct...

I don't think paint matched ones look right, just a slight tint to it looks best.

Sorry it took so long. I snapped some quick pics from a few feet away in direct sunlight. From far away in sunlight, the smoked reflectors make the reflectors look black, like the first pic but darker. When you get closer, a bit of amber peeks through. Still worth the $14 I paid. And yes, they're the smoked ones. I bought them from firearm's ebay listing.

I can get more if you'd like. Just took these while I was waiting for a friend.

Did you get the 20% tint or 35% ? After emailing with firearm said he has two different shades available.... Def hope u have the 20 cause I am looking for something a little lighter than that...

Did you have to use a heat gun? I was considering having a tint person install it but wondered whether I can do it myself.

Can someone confirm if a heat gun is actually necessary? I was considering having a tint person install it but wondered whether I can do it myself.

--UPDATE--

I order a set from Firearm off of ebay...

... should be here this coming week! I will post pics and how I did the install!

- he has a "darker" 20% tint and a lighter 35% tint, I got the 35% - Cant wait to see what it looks like!

And if it looks stupid or tacky, guess what - it was only like $15 so I won't hesitate to rip them right back off - however, I do think they will look decent, I plan on taking my time to align them properly.

+1 for how you did your install... what do you mean "wet" install... obviously you used soap and water... but how?

I got the link he sent along to how to install them, needless to say the link must be old or outdated beacuse it didn't work

Any shots from a little further away? Few people are going to walk up to the car and stick their nose on my headlight
